Áitiúil by Airbnb

We have taken the difficult decision to postpone the Áitiúil grants programme. Our intention was to provide funding for community projects across Ireland led by locals but the disruption caused by the pandemic has made that task impossible. With so many applications for local projects that have since been cancelled or whose future may be uncertain due to guidance around controlling the coronavirus, we believe postponing the programme is the fairest and most responsible decision.

We thank all applicants for taking the time to respond and for their understanding, and will ensure everyone is updated when we revisit the status of the initiative next year.

Joy in the things that matter most

Local community is at the heart of everything in Ireland. Empowered citizens help to strengthen our communities through the preservation and promotion of our culture and heritage. That’s why we are providing funding for community projects across Ireland, led by locals, that help to promote our culture, sustain our natural environment, celebrate Irish heritage and reimagine travel.

Fund your idea

Apply for a microgrant with Airbnb if you have a project or idea that will directly help to promote our culture and help to serve the local community. This may include:

Environment: projects that help to protect and sustain our natural environment;
Placemaking: creating, raising awareness and celebrating Irish destinations and heritage;
Innovation: re-imagining Irish tourism and travel through entrepreneurship;
Festivals and Events: preserving or celebrating local festivals and bringing people together.
