Within our tour, our second stop is vegetable producers in the city,

We will return to our starting point to start the class and provide all the information on our menu, we will prepare everything fresh, a main course, a salad, water and even a dessert and everything taken care of by a traditional Team.

We will share the food and give thanks to Mother Earth and everyone present, so the flavors of Oaxaca and diverse.

I am Renato a lover of the markets and part of a social project called Etnofood, a "Food Lab" in Oaxaca that seeks to promote the dissemination of food heritage. I am the director of a social initiative that seeks to document local foods and promote good food, I have more than 10 years with a community garden. In this activity all participants know about the culture of Oaxaca and promoting the culture of Slow Food and fair trade.

The experience was very personalized and caring. Nato is extremely educated on the history of Oaxaca, but also the future he wants for Oaxaca. The sightseeing walk to the market was perfect on sharing the rich history of that barrio. The market shopping was insightful and gives me more confidence on visiting Oaxaca’s many markets. I am a decent cook , but was taught lots of new kitchen tricks I will take home with me. The education on the local agriculture from chili’s to mezcal was invaluable. And the cooking and eating was delicious. This program put together by this group of caring community members is a must while your staying in Oaxaca.

Learning how to cook mole with Renato was an absolute pleasure! He gave us an interesting tour of Oaxaca, brought us to one of the most local groceries market in town and then taught us how to make a delicious, pre-Hispanic mole. This was a really wonderful experience all around. From the historical walking tour learning about Oaxacan culture, to visiting local organic farm stands, to the creation and enjoyment of the delicious traditional food. I’d highly recommend this experience. It’s been the highlight of my trip so far.

A wonderful experience! We went shopping and saw where they buy all their fresh ingredients and then they taught us how to cook and we did it all with their guidance. They were so helpful and the food was delicious!!

My mom and I took the cooking class along with another young couple we met at the class. It was amazing! The hosts are all local and know the markets and the recipes extremely well. We made mole amarillo with Mexican dumplings and two delicious salsas. Would seriously retake if we come back to Oaxaca.
