Mitä teet
We start our journey at the Barrio de la Estacion (the historic train station neighbourhood) and then make our way into the vineyards. The walk through the vineyards is approximately 25 minutes each way (so you get your exercise!), then we stop for a light picnic and make our way back to the starting point.
During the vineyard walk, you'll get to see unique heritage sites, incredible views of the landscape and I'll tell you everything you need to know about Rioja wine and terroir.

I'm obsessed with all things vine and wine related. A certified Sommelier, holding the WSET Level 3 in Wine & Spirits, I also have a Master's in Wine Tourism Innovation from the University of Bordeaux, University of Porto and Rovira Virgilia (a joint European degree). I've twice been a speaker at the OIV, the International Organization of Vine and Wine, one of the most prestigious wine organizations in the world, presenting work on the culture of wine.
I work as a freelance wine guide in Portugal (Douro Valley) and Spain (Rioja), guiding visitors through these wine regions, at wineries and leading wine tastings.
My passion is walking through the vineyards and getting a feel of the land, the terroir, the people, and the rich heritage, which is what I want to share with you!

We will have some local cured hams, cheeses, bread, olives and…

Our first stop is at the Barrio de la Estacion (Historic Train Station Neighborhood), where we can enjoy a glass of wine at a unique winery.
Following that, we walk into the vineyards and make three stops - each with a unique feature.
Our light picnic will be facing the vineyards, in a beautiful setting.
Following that, we will walk back to see the Ebro River and medieval bridge.
Our last stop is back where we began.

Most of the walk through the vineyards is flat with an occasional uphill.
I'd recommend wearing closed shoes (like running or hiking shoes) instead of sandals since it is dusty in the vineyards.
Total walking distance will be maximum 5kms, and at a leisurely pace.
