We meet at the Sausalito Ferry Landing at 10:30AM and head out for an easy-going in in the Marin Headlands (Golden Gate National Recreation Area). We shuttle to Issaquah Dock in Sausalito's Kappas Marina for a close-up look at some whimsical floating homes before heading off to our main destination: Tennessee Valley, one of the easiest spots to access the nature-rich parklands of Marin County. We enjoy a 3.6-mile roundtrip walk on a level route to Tennessee Cove and back.

I'm a Marin local and co-founder of Coastal Walkers, a nature walking tour company. Sausalito is the prettiest and most historic village on San Francisco Bay and nearby Tennessee Valley offers a popular, easy-going nature hike in the Marin Headlands. We start with an exploration of Sausalito's colorful houseboat community, whose roots go back to the free-spirited 1960s hippy scene and the artistic Beat movement of the 1950s. We then shuttle a short distance to Mill Valley, where you enjoy a leisurely trail walk in a beautiful coastal valley to Tennessee Cove in the Marin Headlands. Native birds, plants and animals abound in this unspoiled natural setting and the shoreline views are outstanding. My co-leader and I are both San Francisco natives, longtime Marin residents and are certified guides in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
