We will pick you up in a minivan at the BSI Bus Terminal and head out of Reykjavík to Brynjudalur. We will share some history of the island and how we are helping Iceland become carbon neutral. The drive takes about 60 minutes, depending on the weather and traffic, and we will pass through places not visited by most tourists.
When we arrive, we will introduce you to the trees we will plant and then work alongside you and your friends and family along the way.
After planting about 45 minutes, we will take you for a short tour of our forest, ending with a BBQ.
Once everyone has eaten well, we will hop back on the bus and return you to the BSI station in central Reykjavík.
We collaborate with Urban Offsets (https://urbanoffsets.co/) to make this a carbon-neutral experience!

Ragnhildur & Brynjolfur
We both work for the Icelandic Forestry Association (IFA), an NGO established in 1930 to reforest Iceland. Brynjólfur is a forester and the Director of the IFA (from 1989) and Ragnhildur is an environmental scientist and project manager at the IFA (from 2005). Brynjólfur likes to grow trees from seed in his spare time and Ragnhildur likes to take her dog for a walk in a forest. We both love trees and our country's history and want to share our enthusiasm with Iceland's many guests. The New York Times wrote about our work in 2017.

The Icelandic Forestry Association (IFA) was founded in 1930 and is a national umbrella organisation for local forestry associations in Iceland, who together form one of the largest NGO's in Iceland. The goal of the IFA is to further the interests of forestry in Iceland and encourage environmental improvements. The IFA is an advocate for forestry and the forestry associations.

Brynjudalur is a secluded valley about 60 km from Reykjavík. The route takes us through the beautiful Hvalfjörður fjord, with scenic views of mountains, the ocean and historic sites. The valley has heath-like vegetation ("mói" in Icelandic) and grasslands, ending in a great view of the Botnssúlur mountains, rising to over 1000 m, and a lovely recreational forest cultivated by us. Your plants will help to expand the forest cover in the valley.
