Mitä teet

We will meet at a local park.

To start, I will lead some warm up exercises called Qi Gong.

I will explain the 3 main schools of Tai Chi.

I will demonstrate the fundamentals of Tai Chi postures. (turning & shifting)
Explore different stances: "Void", "Horse", and "Bow".

Water Break.

Then I will teach the Tai Chi "walk".

Questions are always welcome!

You will receive a package to take home!

I am a Holistic Practitioner (2002), Tai Chi Instructor (2001), Reiki Master (2014) and certified Reflexologist (2002).

Originally from China, I grew up with an appreciation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the martial arts. Tai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art practised for both its defence training and its health benefits. It is based on the philosophy of yin and yang, which is translated into the movements.

Tai chi promotes harmony between body, mind and spirit. Deep stretching combined with a full range of motions strengthens the body and calms the mind.

I will show you that Tai Chi is FUN!

We will be at Grange Park, a beautiful and historic green space in downtown Toronto.
It is located south of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), beside the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCAD), and north of University Settlement House.
It is home of the famous Two Large Forms by Henry Moore.

Words cannot truly describe how special Katy made us feel. Even though there was supposed to 5 of us (family) only 3 showed and that just made it Extra special. She is professional and was very patient with "newbies". She didn't make us feel embarrassed by our lack. It was actually funny. We laughed a lot! We were also blessed for the rain holding off. As soon as we finished, the rains came but she still strolled through Chinatown with us. So personable and informative.

Katy's enthusiasm leaped off the page in the greetings she sent before we even met! In person, you get a strong sense of her passion and love for Tai Chi and all things energy. Her own energy was bubbly and warm which also warmed me up to learning about Tai chi. Now, just some background context: I am in my 30s and I've always been interested in learning about tai chi since I've seen people practice in groups at the park. I knew that tai chi was regarded to have healing and energy raising effects...and let's be honest, we can all benefit from that as we age and get older. As well, I recently learned that tai chi/ qi-gong type of practice belongs in the tool box of high effective business professionals who use it to get them back into a good energetic space during hectic workdays - and I thought, ok, no time like the present to give this a try. Katy's session was full of information about the styles of tai chi and the potential therapeutic applications the practice has in real life. I had a great time learning the warm up exercises, the different tai chi stances and moves - and I really enjoyed doing this in a local park under the warm afternoon sun. Especially in the company of Katy who couldn't wait to share her knowledge with me. She's an unique individual, sharing a very unique experience. I left feeling like I've made a real connection on top of learning an ancient art! Thanks a lot for a wonderful afternoon!

I thoroughly enjoyed Katy’s informative presentation on the introduction to Tai Chi and it’s history. Not only did she present a wealth of historical information about Tai Chi, she did it with great zeal . For me it was an absolute pleasure to see her delight in explaining the many facets of Tai Chi. It was clear, she is very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. Katy is a great motivator to make you want to practice Tai Chi. I had a wonderful experience and recommend it to anyone wanting to know more about the practice and health benefits of Tai Chi!

Tai chi with Katy was wonderful! She is a delightful person and genuinely enjoys her craft. Though most of our party was beginners, she was able to teach and explain the fundamentals while still engaging everyone. She was more than welcoming and gave us some material if we wanted to learn more, a yummy treat, and helpful tips about Chinatown. I would highly recommend this experience to those who’d like to try something new and relaxing.
