There is a famous saying : “Everyone has 2 countries, their own & France”. This was especially true for numerous artists, writers & jazz musicians between the 2 world wars, many of whom flocked to Paris not only for artistic inspiration but also to find themselves. Known as the Lost Generation, these were men & women who had suffered through WW1 & its horrors. They came to Paris wanting to build a new world, a new system of beliefs. Eager to share ideas they would gather in the cafés of the Left Bank. In the 1950’s the “Beat Generation” followed in their footsteps & came to Paris in seek of inspiration. We will visit the places where these people lived, worked & partied…the homes of Henry Miller, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Man Ray, William Faulkner, Ezra Pound....just to name a few. At each location, we will discuss their work, their history & their lives. What brought them to Paris, what they wrote about, what they did. Supported by archival material, this Experience will provide you with photos, anecdotes & insightful quotes about your favorite authors, artists & musicians of the famed Jazz Age of Paris. Apologies to my guests for the lack of photos, but Airbnb have refused my submissions because they do not accept B/W photos. However, during the visit I will share numerous archival photos (B/W) of the authors & musicians in Paris in the 1920s.
