Located a stone’s throw from the UNESCO heritage Barolo zone, our beautiful Riviera delle Langhe offers the perfect base for exploring all of the Langhe region. A wine & food lover's paradise!

Our recently & superbly renovated house is in a breathtaking location, overlooking the Italian Alps, close to the famous wine town of Monforte D’Alba, minutes away from restaurants, wine bars (rub shoulders with local winemakers) & shops, the towns of Barolo and La Morra and their vineyards.

With the reopening of borders, we are COVID aware at Riviera della Langhe. Our region has been spared from the worst of the virus and the beauty and hospitality of the Langhe is as it always has been - wonderful! However, we are aware that COVID has not just disappeared. Whilst we are proud of the ratings we get for cleanliness, we have now put in place even more stringent cleaning procedures in accordance with Airbnb and local authority recommendations. We are also choosing to have a minimum two-day "buffer" between bookings for further risk minimisation. We want your stay to be both extra pleasant and extra safe.
Please ask us if you require any further information on our cleaning procedures. In the meantime, read on!!

We opened the doors of our house to guests on the 1st of June 2019, to share the beauty of this place! You will enjoy privacy, peace and tranquillity while in one of the most beautiful regions of the world!

You will be staying on the upper floor of a large, renovated traditional farmhouse (cascina) with a beautiful swimming pool and extensive garden. Your space includes 4 bedrooms and offers plenty of space for up to 8 people to relax and unwind.

Whilst we offer you the flexibility to book instantly, we would appreciate and strongly recommend you sending us an inquiry or a request to book prior to booking. It is always nicer to have a bit of conversation and avoid misunderstandings.

Please note there is a €35 cleaning fee, paid directly to us at the end of your stay.

About the place
The property offers the best of both worlds; it is immersed in the glorious Langhe countryside, a place of tranquility and peace, yet is located within a few minutes’ drive from the famous vineyards, wine bars and restaurants of Monforte D’Alba, La Morra and Barolo and their vineyards.

The larger towns of Alba and Bra are less than 30 minutes away.

It is the ideal location from which to explore one of the world’s great wine and food hubs whilst still enjoying the serene Piemonte countryside.

The house was fully-renovated between 2005 and 2013 and combines traditional features with modern style and comforts.

Large picture windows and its 3 terraces make the most of the magnificent 180 degree views across the countryside to the Alps.

A fully-equipped kitchen provides everything you need to encourage you in cooking the superb local Langhe produce.

On the western side there is an enticing swimming pool that offers a private paradise where you can enjoy your glass of spritz while gazing at the superb sunset over the Alps.

There are 4 spacious double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and, with a large sofa (divano) in the living room, your space can comfortably sleep up to a maximum of 8 people.

Monforte D'alba, Piemonte, Italia

When to Visit the Langhe, Piemonte

Piedmont has a Mediterranean climate moderated by the neighbouring Alps. Summers are hot and dry while in winter the temperature is mild. The average annual temperature in Piedmont is 20 ° degrees with dry weather for 206 days a year, an average humidity of 69% and a UV index of 5

We recommend April-May for the travellers that prefer cooler temperatures and clear days that allow beautiful views of the Alps; June-Aug is for those that prefer warm to hot days with day-temperatures frequently over 30°C and the nights' 18-22°C. Our pool is very popular for these months. Autumn is a beautiful time in the Langhe. The month of September offers warm days and cooler nights as the grape harvest begins; in October it is the time of the nebbia (fog) and the Nebbiolo grapes are harvested for the grand wines of Barolo and Barbaresco, while November offers a splendid array of colours in the vineyards, and the truffle season reaches its peak.

We can help you explore this world heritage UNESCO area through a combination of walks on the vineyards walking tracks or escorted drives. Or you can indulge an Italian national pastime by hiring a bike and riding the hills. The local winding roads that connect the wine towns can be your own personal Giro.

The house is in a peaceful yet very convenient location. It is a few minutes drive or a brisk walk through hazelnut groves and vineyards to the lovely hilltop wine town of Monforte d’Alba.
Here, a series of small lanes climb to the upper town, where Scarampi Palace, together with the Bell Tower and the small church of Saint Augustin, provide a wonderful backdrop to the central square. During summer, on the occasion of classical music concerts, it becomes a charming outdoor auditorium.

Monforte has many cafes, wine bars and restaurants and is an ideal location for morning coffee, lunches, aperitivi or a special night out.

The villa is close to other famous wine towns of Piemonte. Towns with well known names such as Barolo, La Morra, Cherasco, Bra, Dogliani, Diano D’Alba and the Langhe’s capital Alba. The list can go on - this is a wine and food mecca!
you’re only an hour and a half from Turin and even less to the Ligurian coast and the French border.

Activities - Piemonte offers a lot to see and enjoy - it’s a dense cultural landscape of arresting natural and man-made beauty, with splendid hills adorned by perfectly laid out vineyards and topped by eye-catching villages, each with its own medieval castle. History and culture is around every corner, and the culinary pleasures are myriad!

You can explore the world heritage UNESCO area through a combination of walks on the vineyards walking tracks, scenic bike rides or drives. The local winding roads that connect the wine towns are ideal for perfecting you descends or ascends.

The activities available are many and varied and include –
•Winery visits and wine tasting (of course!) in the regions of Barolo, Barbaresco, Dogliani, Monferrato and Roero.
•Produce tasting – cheese, torrone, Nutella, chocolate and … truffles
•Truffle hunting – during the Autumn season
•Explore medieval villages
•Walk the vineyards
•Lose yourself in the stunning countryside
•A day-trip to Monviso, the highest peak of the Cottian Alps and source of the mighty Po River
•Urban strolling in Acqui Terme, famous for its thermal spas dating back to Roman times
•Passeggiata and aperitivi in Alba
•Visit Turin, a beautiful city with classic architecture, captivating museums and galleries, grand town squares and some of the best cafes and restaurants in the world – it’s one of Italy’s best kept secrets!

Or, you are only a short drive through the stunning Roya Valley to the Ligurian coastline and the Italian Riviera where ruggedly beautiful hills meet dazzling Mediterranean waters. You can even dash across the border to France and Monaco

We are very familiar with the region and can provide extra services such as private driving services, guided walks, and pre-arranged pickup and dropoff arrangements (very reasonable supplementary fees may apply).

Wines - local wines are numerous and seriously good, produced from a relatively small number of grape varieties. Typical for the area are Barolo and Barbaresco (made from the noble Nebbiolo grape), Dolcetto, Barbera and Moscato. Vineyards line the undulating slopes, wine cellars ranging from architectural masterpieces to the humble traditional Cascina dot the precious hills, and enoteche boasting hundreds of wine brands and bottles by the thousands will provide the wine lover an an almost spiritual experience. There are many outstanding wine producers to visit, all within a short distance of our house.

Food - Piedmont wine and food are inseparable and this region is devoted to pleasing the senses. Its delights are strong, rich and somehow autumnal in flavour and all compete to please the inquisitive taste buds.
Piedmont food is about local produce, artisan producers of cheese and salumi, endless list of home-made dishes – agnolotti, beef braised in Barolo, large selection of superb cheeses - each valley has its own, truffles, at their best in autumn, vitello tonato and bagna cauda. All matched with top wines.

We will recommend you wonderful restaurants that we feel best represent the local cuisine - from home-style (Cucina Casalinga) to more elaborate style, and he local trattoria to fabulous Michelin starred restaurants, Langhe has it all and you are in a great position to reach them. Even the furthest away, is not that far!

Shopping for food - you can buy your produce at the local markets which are rotating between the villages and towns on a daily basis. These markets are outdoors, normally in the town's main piazza. They are open from 8am to 1pm and sell fresh veggies, meats, cheeses, olives, clothes, shoes, linens and other miscellaneous items.
There are food and grocery stores in Monforte, Monchiero and Dogliani and we will provide you with everything you need to know. Please feel free to ask any questions prior to arrival.

My husband and I moved to Piemonte recently. The move was the culmination of our enthusiasm and love of Italy’s culture, countryside, wine and the Italian way of life. We first visited the place in 2005 and returned almost every year since. It took us two years to find this place and hope to make it into a hub for good food, wine and friendships. We want to share our love of the place with our guests and help them have an unforgettable experience. I am also a relentless, inquisitive traveler, and combine meticulous research with a desire to discover the true heart of any region I visit; and, an adventurous, experimental cook, combining old and new cuisines, a “foodie” in the true sense of the word.

Interaction with guests
My husband and I live on the ground floor of the property and are always available if needed. We are both wine and food lovers and are very happy to share a glass or two, but are equally happy to give guests space and privacy also.

We are happy to help with suggestions for the region, make restaurant reservations, and offer advice.
