Private self catering garden cottage & veranda, in a park like garden in central Hillcrest. The cottage is an independent outbuilding on the property of one of the original old Hillcrest farm houses. The dwellings are +- 90 yrs old so the cottage is rustic but comfortable. Ideal for 1 traveler or a couple. Amenities including restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Very close to the freeways. Safe parking available. Tranquil and peaceful. Wifi - Uncapped fibre line. No smoking inside.

This is one of the last remaining large 2 acre properties in central Hillcrest with an established garden, beautiful old trees, a pond and wetland and a swimming pool, hosting a lot of bird life and nature.
The cottage is in our garden although set privately apart from the house, so it does have a "homely" feel to it, together with our dogs, bees, chickens and veggies!
We hope for it to offer travelers a little home from home, so it is well equipped and we are always happy to accommodate and help guests to be comfortable no matter how long the stay.
It is a very quiet neighbourhood, and despite the convenience of the location and proximity to all the amenities of Hillcrest, it feels like you are in the country!
The Hilldene Road Security Precinct offers a 24 hour Blue Security bicycle patrol and camera surveillance at both entrances and exits to the cul de sac type neighbourhood.

We are in a quiet cul de sac in a both very friendly and secure neighbourhood with security cameras and a bicycle patrol.
We are very close and within walking distance to several shopping centres hosting various shops including a Woolworths Food-market and well known local restaurants.
We are also very close to the M13 and the N3 that connects Durban to Pietermaritzburg and beyond.

We are an easy going, nature loving couple. Our home and cottage are simple, comfortable and welcoming.
Since our children are grown up, we have the space to share with travelers and are happy to offer a resting place. We travel a lot ourselves so understand the needs of a little "home from home"!
We love our wild indigenous garden where we welcome nature, wildlife and birds. Besides our 2 well loved dogs, we have chickens for fresh eggs, and are beekeepers with several bee hives in the 2 acre garden from which we harvest our own honey. We have an active and productive veggie garden to provide for our kitchen, as we are very keen cooks, and particular about food.
We have a second home in Italy and are custodians of a small olive grove in Liguria where we produce our own biological olive oil.
We love travelling and exploring new places, enjoy the outdoors and gardening, are keen walkers and mountain bikers, and we do regular yoga practice.
