“Ross's Landing is a large grassy area on the riverfront downtown, perfect for kite flying, picnicking, photographing, and having a good time in general. There's even a playground for the kids! It's within a short walk of the Tennessee Aquarium, Creative Discovery Museum, Cold Stone Creamery, the stadium where the Chattanooga Lookouts play (baseball), and lots and lots of great restaurants. ”

“This is probably my favorite spot in Chattanooga. And it’s free! You drive up Lookout Mountain, park in the small parking lot, and take a short hike down to see the spectacular view! Great for a picnic lunch or a romantic view of the sunset. You can also continue your hike if you’d like, as the path continues past sunset rock. ”

“This wonderful waterfall is located in the South Cumberland State Park. This location is perfect for Hiking, Swimming, Rock Climbing, and enjoying the great outdoors. Enjoy one of the most scenic, wild areas in Tennessee with a visit to the Foster Falls Small Wild Area. Operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority and located near Tracy City, Tennessee, this recreation area provides a safe and beautiful base for exploring the south end of the Cumberland Plateau. Foster Falls is a spectacular 60-foot waterfall plunging into a deep pool. Mountain laurel, azaleas and hemlocks growing above the falls, along the sandstone overlook and in the gorge below add to the beauty of this area. ”

“Savage Gulf is 15,590-acre natural area located in Grundy and Sequatchie Counties. Carved like a giant crowfoot into the western edge of the Cumberland Plateau, it is one of Tennessee's most scenic wilderness areas. Its sheer sandstone cliffs and rugged canyons provide extraordinary views. A significant feature is Stone Door, a 10 ft. wide by 100 ft. deep crack, forming from the top of the escarpment into the gorge below. It looks like a giant door left ajar and was once used by Indians as a passageway. Breathtaking waterfalls form at the head of many gorges, where streams drop off over hard sandstone cap rock. ”
