“One of the top 3 most beautiful coffee shops in Budapest hands down, rather touristic and pricey, but well worth a visit! They have a great breakfast buffet as well! ”

“From panoramic igloos to glass-fronted terraces augmenting Art Nouveau hotels, Budapest has any number of terraces to sip mulled wine in the warmth of indoors while watching the snow fall and Christmas lights tinkle. Some are seasonal additions or conversions to popular alfresco spots in summer, others imaginative creations that have only been unveiled this year. Those operating as extensions to top-notch restaurants can offer fine fare to go with your glass of red, a surprisingly affordable experience particularly if you factor in lunchtime deals as well. Live music is an occasional feature, DJs too.”

“Housed in the enormous building of a former factory. You can get good burgers while drinking the Hungarian Fröccs (white or rosé wine mixed with sparkling water)”

“One of the unavoidable parties of the Pest night, the "Fogasház". The good news is that you are within walking distance of "the Prety good flat in downtown", it's only 650 meters, 8 minutes walk. The Pretty good flat of the Keleti station is also close to the Tooth House: 1 stop from Keleti Railway Station to metro line 2 and Blaha Lujza Square, 650 meters, 8 minutes walk. It is mainly a place for foreigners to entertain, and is actually a huge ruin pub with more rooms and musical tastes, open until 6 am. The place has an incredible atmosphere, I highly recommend it.”

“Another great wine bar, romantic, rustic brick walls, lovely jazz music in the evenings. Recommended to book ahead especially for more than 2-3 people.”

Ravintola
“What is it? An award-winning restaurant with a wine list longer than your table. Why go? József Bock is the man behind the wine list here. His ancestors have been making wine for nine generations in the Villány region of Hungary. (Since the 18th century!) More than two-dozen of the family’s wines are on the menu at this little gem in District 7 – as well as other vintages. Food wise the joint keeps it old school too, with a menu of traditional Hungarian dishes and classic local flavours. Think steak, beef tartare ‘sandwiches’ and cucumber salads. Make sure to pre-book, you’re unlikely to get a table otherwise.”

“The music is a bit “commercial” and the service is not the best in town but this club has an amazing architecture! They transformed an abandoned Palace into this fantastic club. It’s worth to go check it! Plus, it’s not so expensive.”

“Mika Tivadar Bar was named after Tivadar Mika, one-time iron and copperware factory owner. Mika’s former factory in Kazinczy utca is now home to one of the best new-wave clubs in the city, where the people of the nearby 400 are also returning guests due to the fact that the two clubs have similar air, design, and audience. The excellent wines, the superb music and the all-new interior are all hard to resist. From spring to autumn, the garden of Mika Tivadar also awaits you with delicious dishes, drinks, light paintings and cool music.”

“Even if you aren't attending a concert, it's worth peeking inside to take a peek at the stained glass windows (made by Miksa Roth), the Zsolnay tiles, the crystal chandeliers and the shimmering mosaics and murals.”

“Tesla's programme is built around electronic music, and it’s fittingly situated in the old transformer building of the Electrotechnical Museum. Tesla is not just a club though, but a cultural space open to many art forms like dance and theatre. The concert hall capable of accommodating 800 people is the biggest on the street and promises high quality entertainment, a state of the art club that would be at home anywhere in Europe.”

“Telep began as a gallery, a shelter for the local art scene. Its crowded bar is open to the street and provides a window on the city’s latest styles. Telep’s diverse program, which includes workshops, screenings, and gigs, draws a community of photographers, longboarders, bikers, and designers. Casual visitors can drop by for a cool drink, a bite in the bistro, and some world-class people-watching. Telep also houses Hungarian designer label Ykra and a graffiti shop called Shoppp.”
