“FRIM is the first and most venerable research institute in Malaysia focusing on forestry science, to which its spacious grounds and rainforest acreage are dedicated. Sited adjacent to Bukit Lagong Forest Reserve, it is also a Malaysian Natural Heritage Site, as well as on the Tentative List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Although actually devoted to research, FRIM opened much of its grounds for public access and use, allowing activities as varied as hiking and mountain biking, to birdwatching and camping, to wedding photography. The best way to get to FRIM is by car. Note that it isn’t a particularly easy place to hail a return taxi, even if it is easy to get one to go there from the city centre. So if you don’t have your own car, it might be best to get a taxi to wait, or try and GrabCar it. ”

“Station Code: SBK16 Pasar Seni (8 stops from MRT Taman Mutiara Barat) Pasar Seni (Central Market) is located at Jalan Hang Kasturi, a few minutes away from Petaling Street (Chinatown). It was founded in 1888 and originally used as a wet market, while the current building was completed in 1937. It has since been classified as a Heritage Site by the Malaysian Heritage Society and it is now a landmark for Malaysian culture and heritage. It is also strategically located within public transport facilities such as RapidKL LRT and bus services. Central Market has created a corner to display multi-ethnicity and the stalls are zoned based on the features of each race. The new zone therefore would consist of 3 lanes namely the Lorong Melayu, Straits Chinese and Lorong India. The purpose of this new zone is to let the visitors have an insight of the cultural difference of the various races in Malaysia. Attractions Around Kota Raya Shopping Complex is the biggest commercial centre closest. The Pasar Seni MRT Station is a mere a 10 minutes walk from the complex. Its surrounding area has the highest concentration of financial institutions and leading hotels. Several schools and learning institutions also surround the station. The KA02 Kuala Lumpur station which the KTM Komuter serves, is a 400 m walk away, connected by a pedestrian bridge crossing the Klang River. There are also bus hubs above this station that connects buses from Kuala Lumpur to Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Subang Jaya. The roads and areas surrounding this MRT station serve as important bus terminals. A mere 500 m away is Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown which is a haven for bargain hunters looking for clothes, bags souvenirs and much more. Food lovers will also be spoilt for choice with the various tasty dishes on offer. ”

“Fahrenheit88 is a modern mall near opposite of Pavilion KL. It used to be known as KL Plaza, but the new owner wanted to rename the mall after a huge renovation. Fahrenheit88 has some very nice stores. At the top floor you find Signature IT, a huge IT department store. Fahrenheit88 became one of the places to be among locals because of the huge Uniqlo clothing shop that occupies a few floors.”

“Zouk Kuala Lumpur, set along Jalan Tun Razak, encompasses six dynamically different themed rooms (namely Aristo & Rooftop Garden, Barsonic, Main Room, Phuture, Terrace Bar and Velvet Underground), and with frequent appearances from international heavyweights such as Above & Beyond and DJ Tiesto, it’s no wonder that Zouk is still a favourite among KL-lites even after nine years of existence. Tuesdays are ‘Ghetto Heaven’ nights featuring selections of only the best hip hop and R&B grooves, and Wednesdays are Mambo Jambo parties, taking you back to the 80s with hits from the era, so strut your best stuff and dance the night away!”
