Newlyn, Cornwall, Britannia

Trevorrows loft is a bright and contemporary space hidden in the heart of the traditional old part of Newlyn, between Mousehole and Penzance. A moment's walk from the tolcarne gastro pub, the famous art gallery, and right on top of Newlyn green beach, leading to Penzance promenade. It's a traffic free location, although pre paid space in car park 50 yards away. The art is by local painter Ricky Chaplain, and the sun streams into the house in the mornings. The master bedroom is an en suite loft and has a beautifully open feel.
A lovely modern space, free from clutter. We use top quality hotel linen and towels. Fully functional kitchen including coffee pod machine (with pods), nuitribullet, dishwasher etc etc Combi boiler and central heating.
In between Mousehole and Penzance, Newlyn is a unique and picturesque village, famed as much for its links to art as it's fishing industry. This strange combination of flair and creativity within a hard working fishing port really brings two worlds together, and co-exist happily in the lively local pubs! Also the fresh fish has attracted some real food enthusiasts, and there are a few REALLY good restaurants to choose from. A short walk from Penzance, and only 7 miles from lands end. It's a great base for all of West penwith's most amazing beaches. We live here because we love here

IDEAL FOR HOLIDAY + BUSINESS. Up to 40% DISCOUNT for weekly/monthly long stay now available. Belgravia Loft is just a 15 min walk from the train/bus station, the Isles of Scilly Ferry Terminal & just around the corner from the cinema, theatre, shops, restaurants and galleries. We are also a gentle 15 min stroll from Jubilee outdoor pool, the harbour, two parks & the promenade. Stunning view of Mounts Bay, St Michaels Mount and Penzance harbour. We welcome singles, couples and business travellers
Your room is on the 2nd floor of this 19th century town house and is accessible through a trap door. As you enter the room you are first greeted by a stunning 180 degree view of the bay through a 3-sided box window. The size of the room is very comfortable: Floor area: 4 x 5 meters (approx) Roof height: 2.2 meters at highest point of pitched roof. Toilet and washing facilities: You have your own en-suite toilet and butler sink which are located within glass block partition walls and are accessible via cafe style swing doors. Kitchen: You also have your own kitchen area where you can prepare breakfast and packed lunches. This consists of a wooden work top, crockery/cutlery for 2 people, mini fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave. Breakfast: Sadly a cooked breakfast is not available but cereal, milk, tea, coffee will be waiting for you when you arrive. Food supplies are easily accessible with a Tesco local, 2 Co-ops, a vegetable shop and an Archie Browns within a 5 minute walk of the house. Shared bathroom: Directly opposite the bottom of the stairs to your room is a spacious toilet and shower room which you are welcome to use. Fire information: We have taken the following the steps to ensure that in the unlikely event of a fire you will be as safe as possible: - Fire buckets and fire extinguishers have been installed on the first floor and in your room. - Smoke alarms have been installed on the ground floor, first floor and in your room. - The hatch door to your room has been made out of fire retardant 18mm plywood - A fire escape rope ladder has been installed in your room. Electricity: There is a £1 coin meter which supplies all the sockets in the room. This will be topped up with £5 which should be enough for your stay. However if you run out simply insert more coins and continue to enjoy your room.
Belgravia Street is a quiet, residential street even though we are very close to the centre of the town. However I feel I should point out that there is a social club further along the street opposite which stages evening events, mainly at the weekends. This means that occasionally there may be a few customers standing outside the club in the evening chatting until 10 or 11pm. The noise is minimal and can be reduced substantially by keeping the front window of your room shut.

Budget studio room with basic kitchen facilities. Adjacent shower room/toilet. Perfect for the economic traveler. The basement is part of an old Georgian townhouse situated in the heart of Penzance. Double bed and a comfortable sofa bed. Writing desk. TV. There's also a small contained kitchen area with fridge/freezer, cooker, toaster, kettle and microwave. 10 minutes from the train station or beaches and the town's famous promenade. This is a marvellously equipped room for budget travellers.
It's an old Georgian townhouse with wisteria climbing it's walls. Down some old granite steps is the studio. It's a large room but cosy and offers good privacy and of course it's very well equipped with a basic kitchen included so you don't have to eat out every night. The house itself is charming and very homely. There is a shower room and toilet at the entrance to the studio but there is also a larger family bathroom upstairs if that is busy.
  • Täydellinen pad, keskeisellä paikalla, jossa on runsaasti tiloja pidempään oleskeluun.

  • Hyvä hinta-laatusuhde hyvällä paikalla. Lyhyen kävelymatkan päässä asemalta. Olin hyvin tyytyväinen saapuessani. Huone oli mukava ja yksityinen. Hyvin valmistettu ja jätettiin valtava teetä ja kahvia leivän leivän ohella. On myös pieni liesi / uuni, jonka ajattelin olevan mukava koskettaa, jos halusit lajitella itsesi millään muulla. Pysyisin varmasti uudelleen. Kiitos, että pidit minut!

  • Pysyin Judi'sissa yhden yön pienen tauon vuoksi. Talo on kävelymatkan päässä kaikista palveluista ja sisäänkirjautuminen oli todella joustavaa. Huone sijaitsee talon kellarissa, jossa on oma pieni minikeittiö. Erittäin lämmin ja kodikas, suosittelisin pysyä Judin!

Beautiful semi-detached, 3 bedroom house, enclosed garden, parking & sea views over Mounts Bay, St. Michaels Mount, Newlyn harbour and the surrounding countryside. The house is in an area with no through traffic and is set up to relax, away from a busy life and watch the boats (that catch your dinner) come and go or to explore the rugged Penwith peninsula, with St.Ives, Mousehole, Porthcurno's outdoor Minack Theatre and Land's End, all within 8 miles.
Totally renovated during 2018 / 2019, this spacious house has a modern kitchen-diner, lounge, 2 kingsize bedrooms, 1 single bedroom, a family bathroom and downstairs WC. At the rear of the house is an enclosed lawned garden and decking area with great sea and coastal views. The front of the house boasts off road parking for one vehicle. It is situated in a quiet residential area with no through road. Cresthaven has a modern, clean and understated spacious interior, which is heated by gas central heating. The stylish brand new kitchen-diner (with 32" smart TV) has space for 6-8 diners. Whilst the kitchen itself benefits from a large fridge freezer, integrated dishwasher and washer / dryer. The kitchen has all the utensils you would expect in your own home and it is a great entertaining space. The lounge can seat 5 people comfortably and has a 43" Smart TV utilising the fast fibre-optic internet. There are French doors to access the decking and garden. Additionally there is a selection of family games and Cornish and local interest books, as well as information leaflets for a range of local tourist attractions. Local Ordinance Survey maps are also here, making it a perfect space to relax and plan the next days adventure. Regrettably the lounge fireplace is NOT able to be used, as the flue and chimney have been blocked. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LIGHT A FIRE! The decking has wonderful views out across Mounts Bay and a dining table for 6 people. There are three steps to the small lawned garden, as perfect place to sunbathe or for the kids to play safely. There is outside lighting, as well as decking lighting. The hallway has a Wc situated under the stairs. The family bathroom has a generous shower cubicle and a double ended bath, as well as the basin and toilet. The LED basin mirror is wonderful, when used as a stand alone light for a relaxing bath. Bedroom 1 & 2 have a stylish kingsize bed, wardrobe and a chest of drawers. The view from the master bedroom over looking the sea, is wonderful and I often spend too long gazing out. Bedroom 3 has a stylish single bed and a chest of drawers. At the side of the house guests will find a full height double washing line, useful for family living.
Newlyn is a beautiful and thriving fishing village. Newlyn has local conveniences such as small supermarket (Co-Op), pharmacy, bakeries, coffee shop (The Duke), pubs, an independent cinema and the renowned art galleries and Newlyn School of Art. Being a bustling fishing port Newlyn offers fresh produce from the sea every day, available from the fishmonger (past the harbour and on the way to Mousehole) or at the numerous restaurants; Seafood, gastro pubs, Italian and takeaway's; Chinese, Fish and Chips. Any trip to Cornwall has to include Cornish foods including the Cornish Pasty, Meadery's and local ice cream. The best Cornish Pasties in my opinion are available at 'Aunty May's ' bakery at the bottom of the hill. These pasties sell out quick, don't miss out! Meadery's are restaurants which are unique to West Cornwall. Newlyn meadery serves simple meals in a medieval setting, eaten with your fingers from wooden plates and drank down with local 'Mead wine'. Another of my favorites is 'Jelbert's Ice Cream' shop - locally made vanilla ice cream; locals have it with a dollop of Cornish clotted (thick) cream and a flake. The next village along is the picturesque fishing village of Mousehole, (famous from the book 'The Mousehole cat') which is only a 40-60 minute walk along the picturesque coast where you can sit on the white sandy harbour beach or bath in the refreshing clear sea water. Mousehole also has numerous restaurants, art galleries and a lovely old pub; The Ship Inn. Alternative you can easily walk across Newlyn Green and the Penzance Promenade to the Jubilee Bathing Pool and then onto the town of Penzance.

Hi my name is Lowenna! I’m new to Air B&B and really looking forward to meeting some fellow travellers. I try to price my listing honestly, so it’s accessible for the solo traveler and gives you value for money! The location of my home is brilliant, your in 10 minutes walk of the train station and 10 minutes walk from most activities/sights in Penzance. The room is cosy, comfortable, clean and light. I live on my own and have two very friendly kittens.
This is an ideal location for any solo traveler or working person wanting to stay/explore Penzance! A little about the house... I have just bought my first home and I am doing it up little by little. The decor is clean, fresh, with antiques and an industrial sort of style. I up-cycle furniture and enjoy making the house look really unique.
This is a safe area, and the best location, close to the train station and bus stop. Close to local restaurants and shops. The house is a mid-terraced house, with period features. I am constantly doing it up and improving on the decor and interior. Your room is at the back of the house so mostly very quiet and well lit with sun in the afternoon.

Newlyn is quite a unique village. It is still very much a working port, one of the largest fishing ports in the country. Life is tough for many who live here, often having more than one job, so please support the community in the local shops, restaurants, pubs, cinema and attractions, the season is very short. Also support the many charities that you will see around and in particular the R.N.L.I who go out in all wind and weathers to save people in the most atrocious of conditions, like those of the lifeboat Solomon Browne who went to aid a stricken ship the Union Star in December 1981 when all hands were lost, they were local men, visit the memorial between Newlyn and Mousehole, remember them!

For those interested in the history of Newlyn Harbour. Please see the following information -The story of Newlyn Harbour dates back over 500 years, to 1435 when it was first recorded as an industrial port. Fishing became an increasingly lucrative industry for the fishermen at Newlyn thanks to improved rail access to the South West during the 19th Century. To help improve accessibility and safety, the South and North Piers were built in the mid-1880’s, which in turn helped to boost Newlyn’s fortunes as commodities such as coal could now be exported from Cornwall’s shores. It was around this time that a number of artists moved to Newlyn, forming a creative colony that became known as the Newlyn School. Many of their works were inspired by the day to day life of the harbour, the comings and goings of the fleet and the anxious wait of families who watched for the boats to return safely home. During World War II, a number of boats were hit when Newlyn Harbour was bombed, including the collier Greenhithe, however the town escaped serious damage. Forced to take refuge during the war, a fleet of Belgian trawlers helped to support the Cornish fishing industry during these turbulent years. Up until the 1960s, the main catch at Newlyn was pilchards, however over time these became less popular with consumers. During the 1970s, mackerel helped to improve the fortunes of the harbour, leading to the opening of the Mary Williams Pier by The Queen in 1980. Ongoing investment included a new Fish Market in 1988 and a small boat pontoon in 2005. Today, Newlyn Harbour is one of the largest fishing ports in the UK, offering up-to-date facilities and services to support the Cornish fishing industry.

Mousehole is a picturesque fishing village on the south coast of Cornwall between Penzance and Land's End, that has retained much of its old-world charm. The narrow streets are filled with galleries, small shops and restaurants. Local cottages, built from Lamorna granite, cluster together around the inner edge of the harbour; these are protected from the force of the sea by two robust breakwaters. Parking in the village is extremely limited due to the narrow roads and visitors are encouraged to park on the outskirts of the village, or in the quay car parks. The Mousehole Christmas lights are famous throughout Cornwall and are well worth visiting. They are tuned off for one hour on the 19th December on the anniversary of the Penlee Lifeboat tragedy. Mousehole is famed for the lantern parade on Tom Bawcock's Eve held on 23rd December. The children's book, The Mousehole Cat by Antonia Barber, and the television production of the same name, were inspired by the tale of Tom Bawcock and Mousehole's own traditional dish of Stargazy Pie.Just offshore from the harbour is St Clement's Isle, a small group of rocks where an ancient hermit was said to have lived. Boat tours of the coast from the harbour are available. A few hundred yards along from the village is a huge cave, which is believed to give rise to the village's unusual name. This is unlikely but the origin of the name is still a mystery. It is possible to walk west along the Coastal Path to Lamorna Cove, or past Lamorna to the Tater Du lighthouse. Inland is the lovely village of Paul and beyond it lie several stone circles and megalithic sites. To the east is Newlyn, the largest fishing port in the South West.

Sitting in a green oasis, just 5 minutes away from open countryside, we enjoy beautiful views across Newlyn, Penzance and the harbour. The delightful cottage, nestled just above the historic port of Newlyn, will provide the perfect base for your holiday or art retreat.
Trewarven was built in 1927 and we’re fortunate to retain many period features. The wonderful views are enjoyed from the comfortable conservatory and balcony. There is a charming living room with french doors into the conservatory which has Han original working fireplace.open . There are four bright bedrooms, two of which are in the attic space. The kitchen and bathroom are simple but functional. The garden is a tranquil haven from which to enjoy the bird-life, a snooze in the hammock, the evening sun and a BBQ.
Newlyn is a delightful working port and its home to Newlyn Art Gallery, great local pubs, a variety of great places to eat out, curious shops and a new cinema. It's an easy walk to Penzance, Mousehole or the open countryside. I've left a list of my favourite places with the visitors book. There is a map with favourite locations and tips too!

Mounts Bay opens out and stretches from Mousehole to Porthleven including Newlyn, Penzance and Marazion, all dominated by St Michaels Mount a tidal isle crowned by a medieval castle and church. Situated mid way between Hayle and Mounts Bay, Rosevidney Manor is a fabulous location to explore west Cornwall being less than 2 miles from both the North and South coasts. The Manor itself is a magnificent grade II listed building surrounded by mature gardens and the cottage is part of the converted coach house.Mounts Bay is, of course, dominated by St Michael's Mount, the jewel in Cornwall's crown. St Michael's Mount is accessed by a causeway, once walked by pilgrims in honour of the alleged appearance of Saint Michael, which is revealed at low tide. At other times visitors are ferried from Marazion to the Mount in small boats. The beautiful town of Marazion, set on the shores of Mount's Bay, has for long been a hot favourite for tourism in West Cornwall. Its clean, sandy beaches, with stunning views towards the Lizard Peninsula and Land's End, have established Marazion as the most wonderful destination for beach holidays in Cornwall with long sandy beaches providing a safe seaside environment for swimming and other watersports including windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing. A number of major sporting events in these fields are held in the bay.Nearby Penzance, meaning 'holy headland' is the last major town before Lands End. The market town was once made famous as the birthplace of Sir Humphry Davy, now services the Isles of Scilly by land and sea. The streets of Penzance hold many historic buildings dating from the 17th century; it is well worth a walk around. The Turk's Head pub on Chapel Street reputed to date from 1233 is the oldest pub in the town, steeped in smuggling and pirate history. A few minutes down the road is Newlyn, home to one of the largest fishing fleets with over 40 acres of harbour as well as more recently attracting many great artists and exhibitions.Hayle is dominated by the spectacular 3 miles of golden sands that stretch north towards Gwithian Towans and Godrevy Lighthouse. A quite stunning beach that offers opportunities for sunbathing and surfing. When the wind is blowing, watch out for the windsurfers, particularly in the waves at the northern end of the beach. This is one of the best windsurfing spots in the country. In the town of Hayle, Paradise Park is always popular with both adults and kids with their fantastic collection of rare birds and animals. There is also a good indoor play area for the kids if the weather gets bad!St Ives, once a busy fishing village, now relies on tourism as its main industry. Turner came and painted a landscape in 1811 and art has played a part in St Ives history ever since. More recently Barbara Hepworth and the Tate Gallery have put St Ives on the modern map. The Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden is an amazing place to visit, and well worth it even if you're not a budding artist. Trewyn Studios where she lived and worked from 1939 until her tragic death in 1975 has been turned into a fantastic museum, depicting many of her favourite sculptures in the sub tropical garden, is now managed by the Tate. The Tate Gallery St Ives was built in 1993 on the former gas works site displaying various paintings, sculptures and ceramics.

Although less well known as a holiday destination than nearby St Ives, it has grown in popularity but maintained its character. Newlyn is an important fishing harbour and the fishmongers on The Strand all have a wonderful choice. For eating out try The Tolcarne, Lewis’s and Jelbert’s ice cream shop. Only a few minutes stroll from the house include; fishmongers, bakers, butcher, greengrocers, a specialist cheese mongers and a well-stocked Co-op. Also within a few minutes walk are The Newlyn Art Gallery, The Filmhouse, many restaurants and pubs. It is an easy walk to Penzance and Mousehole and there are regular buses from Newlyn. Under 10 miles to St Ives, Marazion and St Michael’s Mount, lands End and Sennen. Several NT gardens are all within a few miles and Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens is well worth a visit. Nearby Morrab Gardens in Penzance is a hidden gem, and its Mediterranean and sub-tropical planting make it unlike any other municipal garden in the UK. There are over 40 beaches within 10 miles of Newlyn and everybody has their own favourite. Locals with dogs either walk to Newlyn Tolcarne Beach or drive a few miles to the sandy Longrock Beach, which has easy parking There are regular buses from Newlyn to local villages and to Penzance bus and train stations for services further afield. The buses allow sections of the South West Footpath to be walked without relying on a car. If all you want is to sit back, relax and enjoy the view, the house is ideally situated. It overlooks Newlyn Harbour and has uninterrupted views along the Penzance Promenade past the Jubilee Pool to Marazion and St Michael’s Mount and across Mounts Bay to the Lizard Peninsular.

Best described by previous guests; Fall straight into Cornish time with lazy mornings, long days and joyful returns. mOlly mUppeT is hidden amongst the houses behind the owners cottage and she soon becomes a real home and a stunning place to explore. So very cute in every way, the attention to detail is second to none. The bed was like sleeping on a fluffy cloud, whilst the garden was a little piece of heaven. A memorable base for a memorable holiday! (Facebook/Instagram @mollymuppetcottage.)
Although tucked away, mOlly mUppet is just a two minute walk to the harbour, small beach, pub, shops, galleries and restaurants. It's also ideally located for exploring West Cornwall with St Michael's Mount, St Ives, Lands End, Penzance and The Lizard peninsular all within easy reach. " A delightful yet humble cottage that wraps its arms around you as soon as you walk through the door." mOlly is a quirky and unique labour of love. No airs and graces it is just designed with everything you need and everything close at hand. Hand made furniture sits alongside local art and the decoration is in calming colours. The downstairs open space includes a two seater sofa and wood burning stove. There is also a built in small kitchen, a pantry and a cosy eating area for two. One of the two entrance doors leads to the garden. - Wifi, tv, fridge with ice box, microwave, electric cooker and 2 ring ceramic hob. A wooden spiral staircase leads up to the light and airy bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom has an exposed ceiling and two windows. The bed can be made up as a superking or twins. There is clever hanging space with both under bed and bedside table storage. - radio, bed linen and towels (please bring your own beach towels). The small bathroom has a velux window, toilet, hand basin, heated towel rail and thermostatic electric shower. In true Cornish fashion there is a roof beam that goes through the cubicle! Those over 6'3" will have to crouch a little! Outside there is a large established garden with gravelled pathways and various places to rest and unwind.
The neighbourhood is a step back in time when community was at the heart of all places. People can often be found chatting in the street and passing the time of day. Help is never far away and it is a comfortingly safe place to be. A watch is never needed as time is your own. It would be easy to while away your entire stay without even getting in your car again. mOlly has been lucky enough to meet a huge variety of guests from this country and afar. I look forward to welcoming everyone. There have been writers, artists, couples, individuals, walkers, sight seers and retreaters. Those celebrating special occasions, enjoying a romantic getaway or cherishing time alone. As Valerie Pybus an Australian author wrote " the perfectplace to leave your cares behind and become enfolded by the unforgettable Cornish village: where in the harbour the gulls call with joy and the little boats dance with delight."

Granite fisherman’s cottage located on the south side of Mousehole harbour with Atlantic sea views across Mounts Bay and the Lizard Peninsula. Fully renovated and refurbished to a high standard whilst maintaining many original features.
The cottage has a cosy sitting room and separate kitchen/dining room on the ground floor. Upstairs there are two bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and attached bathroom. Bedroom 2 has two single beds with attached toilet and washbasin.
Mousehole is a small fishing village. The terraces of cottages and winding narrow streets have a magic and aesthetic all of their own. The harbour forms a crescent shape with a sandy beach and a harbour arm at either end of the crescent. There is a local grocer/newsagent, several tearooms, two public houses, restaurants and also several craft and gift shops. Penzance with its extensive shopping facilities is 3 miles away, Lands End about 7 miles. The immediate and surrounding coastline is extremely beautiful being designated an ‘area of outstanding natural beauty’ by the National Trust.

Explore the beauty of Penwith. Carthew Mill House is situated between Penzance and St Just, perfect for exploring the wonders of Penwith. Walkers will enjoy the easy access to the South West Coastal Path. This is also the perfect central location for exploring The Minack Theatre, Mousehole and the beautiful beaches of Porthcurno and Sennan. St Just is just 10 mins drive away and has cafes, shops and restaurants and in less than an hours you could be in the bustling market town of Truro.
At the end of a quiet country lane in the hamlet of Newbridge sits Carthew Mill House. This 17th century converted corn mill still has the original wheel attached to the side of the house. You can take a stroll down to the stream and enjoy our 3 acres of grassland.
Newbridge is a quiet hamlet and a few minutes drive away is St Just, a pretty little village with some great pubs.

Beautiful sunny single/double room in central Penzance ideally located for exploring the magical Land's End peninsula. The house is very close to the sea, yet still in the center of town, close to shops and Restaurants.
I have a private room at the top of my house which has a shared bathroom/wc on the stair below, It is a large room suitable for one or two people There is a double bed , and a sofa bed, (so can take 3 people occasionally) a fridge, oven/grill/ microwave, toaster and kettle, Tv, Central Penzance area, wifi available. There is a continental breakfast supplied in the room with fresh orange juice/milk,bread,coffee and tea. There is also a separate shower room downstairs
West Penwith as the area is known locally has many attractions. Apart from beautiful beaches and moors, picture postcard fishing villages. There are a great many megalithic sites - stone circles, holy wells and quoits. Many paths for hiking. It has long been a mecca for artists, with the Newlyn school and the Tate and Hepworth museum in picturesque St Ives. There is also the famous Minack theatre where you can watch Shakespeare from the clifftop with the sea as a backdrop.
