“Studio Seis Seis is headed by Sandra Contrera, an experienced curator who works with a lot of very young up-and-coming artists. The space is small and intimate with a central room for monthly exhibitions, along with an additional space which has samples of art from previous exhibitions. Sandra is very accessible and she is happy to explain the background of each artist. Afterwards, stop by the excellent Cafe de las Artistas, a short walk away. ”

“Housed in the spectacular Cuban Baroque Palacio de los Capitanes, the Museo de la Ciudad unveils Havana's fascinating history. You can explore the Hall of Heroic Cuba for an impressive display of objects from the revolution. Art history buffs will want to visit the Espada Cemetery Room to view the tomb of famous French artist Vermay. In the Throne Room stands a sumptuous chair that was built for the visit of a Spanish monarch, and never used. But perhaps the highlight of the museum is the Salon de los Espejos. Adorned with beautiful 19th-century mirrors, this room was where the official end of Spanish rule was proclaimed in 1899.”

“Lovers of trains will enjoy contemplating the Mambí Car, a railway car built in the United States in 1900 and taken to Cuba in 1912 to be used as a presidential car. It owes its name to the First President of the Republic Tomás Estrada Palma who was a fighter of the Liberation Army of Cuba, popularly known as the Mambí Army. It is an authentic palace on wheels, with an elegant dining room, wooden windows with shutters, fans that cool the atmosphere with dry ice, lighting with carbide lamps, refrigerator, luxurious tableware and silver cutlery”

It is the work of the Cuban sculptor Jilma Madera, who won the commission for it in 1953. The statue was carved out of white Carrara marble, the same material used for many of the monuments of the Colon Cemetery. The statue is about 20 metres (66 ft) high including a 3-metre (10 ft) base.[1] It weighs approximately 320 tons. The statue was built from 67 blocks of marble that had been brought from Italy after being personally blessed by Pope Pius XII. ”

“Even without any artifact to display, the Museum of the City of Havana would remain an unmissable visit, courtesy of the opulent Palace in which it resides. The Palace of the Captains General is the most important building of the Plaza de Armas and one of the most representative works of baroque architecture in Latin America. It dates from the 1770s and is a manual of Cuban Baroque architecture, carved in rock extracted from the nearby San Lázaro quarries. Occupying the entire west side of the plaza, the palace stands on the site of the demolished Parroquia Mayor, the first church in Havana.”

They sell a wide variety of tattoo-inspired items, including postcards, stationery, calendars, and souvenirs.
