“Khao San Road - The popular book 'The Beach' famously described Khao San Road as "the centre of the backpacking universe". Judging by the truth-seeking travellers who converge here to shop, exchange tales and prepare for their next stint on the backpacker trail, it's a phrase that sums it up pretty much perfectly. BTS from Asoke to Saphan Taksin 22 minutes, 40 baht (not counting transfer time at Siam), plus about 25 minutes on the Chao Phaya boat (not counting waiting time), 14 baht, plus 10-15 minute walk.”

The prices vary depending on each stall, however, it is very reasonable. Hours : This street never sleep!!! It opens 24 hours, daily, but best for street eating in the evenings after sunset. How to Get There : Take MRT subway to Hua Lamphong MRT station. The station is not close to Chinatown. From the station you have to walk for 10-15 minutes or take a taxi.”

“Santi Chaiprakarn is not only the green space of Banglamphu neighborhood but it eventually hosts a series of cultural activities and performances for locals and visitors in the cooler months of the year (Nov-Dec). Sitting at the center is the historic Phra Sumane Fort, one of few old forts left in Bangkok, surrounded by a pleasant atmosphere of tropical trees. It is also an ideal spot to unwind with the views of Chao Phraya River, Pinklao and Rama VIII bridges.”

“This vast temple compound, tel: (66-2) 222 0280, always feels like the real spiritual deal and, even if never quite properly restored, showcases lacquer-black chapel walls of magnificently fevered fresco paintings to compete with the best of the Italian Renaissance. Across from the main entrance is a giant red ceremonial swing, a Hindu symbol that became Bangkok's civic emblem for a time. The surrounding streets are among the old city's most atmospheric. 1. “The Brick Bar is certainly one of Khao San's most happening places. The focus here is on live ska and reggae, and the huge joint can hold 1200 people, which it often does. Despite being in the heart of Khao San Road, the Brick Bar gets lots of young Thais who come to party and dance the night away. 3 bands play each night between 8 and 130, with Teddy Ska being the current favorite and top draw. It gets hot and sweaty in here, but everyone is having a good time and this remains one of the most lively clubs and nightspots in all the area if not in Bangkok.”
