Local Winter sports

Fairbanks, Alaska is a small town that is BIG on their hockey. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs play at the Big Dipper Ice Arena, and are one of the best teams in the NAHL. Due to COVID-19, their season opener is set to be played on January 21st, 2021, as they will play all of their games in the lower 48 for the first part of the season. The games are very exciting to watch, and are a hit with the whole family. Listed below is their website so you can keep up with all of the action of Fairbanks hockey. https://www.fairbanksicedogs.com/ice-dogs-release-2020-21-season-schedule

Outdoor activities

A trip to Fairbanks in the winter is going to be snowy. One of my favorite places to go sledding is at the University of Alaska Fairbanks sledding hill, located next to the UAF Patty Center. It is a very large hill, and a popular place for locals to go sledding at. Watch out though, as you will definitely get up to a high speed and hit some bumps on the way down. Best to start in the middle and work your way up to the very top.
