From VisitBucks website: Bring your own hammer to strike the boulder field in the 123-acre Ringing Rocks Park and hear them ring like a bell! Also, be sure to pack a picnic and check out Bucks County's largest waterfall. Nearby Ralph Stover State Park is only 1 of 3 state-run rock climbing areas in Pennsylvania. According to Martin, the "ringing rocks" were under high pressure when they formed. When the lava solidified into these rocks, they kept that high pressure, and that high pressure strength is why they ring when you hit them. This rock has been damaged by hammers over the years. This is why you see all the pitting.
