For breakfasts, coffee, great bread and cakes, this bakery has takeaway and a sit in and outside terrace. Also the best pastel do natas (custard tart specialty of Portugal) in the area!

This is the nearest place to access the river for swimming easily. It is a great spot to go for a cold drink, icecream or some food. You can swim there by either walking down the boat ramp, or you can drive down a little closer to the water. The views are good too...!

Places to swim
River beaches / Praias do Fluvial
There are many official river beaches (called Praia Fluvials) as well as numerous wild swimming opportunities around this area.
We at Dragonfly Valley are located directly above overlooking the joining of rivers Unhais and Zezere. These can be accessed down a path below and you can swim here.
The nearest river beach is at the Cabril dam. There is plenty of parking, cafes, beautiful views and a life guarded swimming area (during the summer holidays).
A beautiful river beach nearby is Mosteiro. It's around 10 minutes drive away. There is a cafe there and nice grassy area to relax. It is also a traditional pretty schist village.
This one is also really nice, and is abit smaller…
Mega Fundeira's River Beach
On the other side of the Cabril dam you can drive up and over to a track that follows the river. There are nice places to swim and have picnics there.
Ponto de boa vista para Pedrogao Grande e Lago Verde
About 20 minutes drive away is this place. It has amazing pools along the river in a deep gorge. You can walk and swim there. There is a great new wooden walkway with steps right to the top with great views too... Passadiço das Fragas de São Simão

This is the nice town to visit below the hills at Castanheira de Péra. There is a swimming pool fed by the river that is great for kids, with a wave machine and lots of shade at Praia das Rocas.
