This posh bacaro/restaurant at the feet of Rialto bridge is more expensive than others, but with its tables on the Canal Grande and its excellent wine and food is totally worthy. Open Tue-Sun 9am-11pm

Tecia Vegana is a newly opened vegan restaurant: normally I am not particularly fond of vegan cuisine, but I find their dishes very tasty (and convenient at the same time!); you can also order dishes to take away. And it's only 5 min by foot from the apartment!

Majer is one of my favourite places in Venice! Their small pastries are a slice of heaven (try the chocolate dome), coffee is excellent and also their pizza and sandwiches are very good. There are several Majer shops in Venice, but this one is the closest to my place.

This bookshop is a reference in Venice! New and second-hand books are piled up wildly everywhere, and you have to be careful not to stumble into a gondola and some cats! Open Sun-Sat 9am - 8pm.
