The street of the Galleries of Paris is one of the most important night spots of Porto. Along the street there are several bars and nightclubs, although locals prefer to grab a drink and stay out, jumping from one place to another. The result is a busy street, especially at weekends.

One of the hottest summer terraces, Porto Base has ample space and the green garden of olive trees to accommodate all the floods that have been seen all the late afternoon and weekend nights. The activities are many, outdoor events such as yoga in the garden, concerts and Dj's that can be accompanied by a good wine list, cocktails and gins but also a very good tapas and sandwiches menu. The garden has something relaxing and invites you to a more informal socialization for groups of friends or even family.

Planning to go out at night for some drinks and at the same time something tells you it’s going to be one of those nights where you end up dancing until the break of dawn? I know just the hot spot for doing the entire social drinking mixed with small talk before heading down a staircase, onto the “twilightest” of the dance zones: Plano B Music Club. At Cândido dos Reis street, one of the main arteries of Porto’s nightlife, parallel to Galerias de Paris street, you’ll find Plano B, portuguese for Plan B. But don’t be mistaken, it has been the plan A for many people since it’s opening, some years ago, when Porto couldn’t yet dream of having a nightlife like nowadays. Even with bars and music clubs showing up like mushrooms none of them beats Plano B’s vintage atmosphere.

A dinner for two, or even a meeting with only the closest friends, deserves an intimate, cozy and comfortable atmosphere. At Elebê Baixa, these characteristics are well present and form the ideal setting for savoring the traditional Portuguese gastronomy, with a great inspiration from Minho, in versions specially created for more refined and demanding palates.

In Porto, there is a place called Crystal Palace, but there is no palace there, much less crystal, to be visited. The building made of iron and glass was in fact built and inaugurated in 1865, but in the mid-twentieth century it was dismantled and gave way to the current pavilion. The gardens ... are the originals of the 19th century.

In the Aleixo house, probably the best fillets of octopus with rice are eaten! Assuredly, after you prove them you will understand the reason for such fame. Right next to Campanhã Station, this house already has a few years of history and several generations, and it is now up to Inês and her gifted hand to lead the way to the kitchen. Stone walls, marble countertops and Portuguese stone floors give the house a rustic and relaxed atmosphere. Add to the house's specialty the delicious fillets of hake, the goat and the tripe in Porto's fashion.

Known by many as the cathedral of Port wine - because of the great quantity and variety of bottles of this product, some vintage, dating from 1834, rare and precious -, this wine cellar also sell wines from regions such as the Douro, Alentejo, Dão or Bairrada; liqueur wines; and many spirits, some national, some imported. Founded in 1990, it often appears in international guides, so do not be surprised if you find tourists from other places.

If you want to listen to Fado this is a good place. When I think of Fado, the image that immediately comes to mind is a shawl, a Portuguese guitar and expressions that reflect deep emotions. The word Fado comes from the Latin fatum, which means destiny. Fado sings the love, the pain, the loss and the injustice of society. Fado can be summed up in one word, "Saudade".

On the other side of the river douro in Vila Nova de Gaia are several wine cellars of the port here are some that can make a guided tour and taste probably the best wine in the world. Graham's Graham's is an elegant and selective choice, ideal for anyone looking to get away from the crowds. The visit starts with a 10min video, followed by a very informative visit. One of the things I enjoy most about this visit is that we never have the feeling of being "rushed" to get out of there, so Graham's deserves a real highlight on this list of the best Port wine cellars! Croft A visit to the Croft Harbor wine cellars is a divine experience. Being from the less accessible cellars has fewer people, which provides the feeling of having an exclusive experience. In the first waiting period we are greeted with two Port wines, Croft Pink and a Ruby, then the guided tour itself. A 10 year old Tawny closes an informal and fun visit with a golden key. Accept my suggestion: accompany your tasting with Portuguese chocolates. It's a wonderful combination in a basement that definitely deserves to be on my list of the best Port wine cellars! Churchill's Churchill's, situated just below Graham's, was curiously founded by a member of this family, John Graham, in 1981. Being a young brand, it is betting on differentiation through its notoriously drier Port wines. This Port wine cellar is smaller than the others, conveying a sense of familiarity and warmth, ideal for those looking for a more intimate visit, which is the main reason why Churchill's is listed in the best wine cellars list of Porto. Churchill's also has a "VIP" room with a fabulous view of the Douro River, where you can organize lunches, dinners, or private events. Ferreira Port wine cellar built around the image of D. Antónia Ferreira, an odd woman in an industry dominated by men in the 19th century. The visit begins precisely in a small museum room with D. Antónia objects, followed by a detailed explanation of the different types of Port wine. Before the event, there is also another museum with photographs of grapes, and objects used in the production of wine, brandy and in the old cooperage of the company. The wine cellars of Porto da Ferreira have two spacious rooms for proofs, and also a very small room, all lined with Portuguese tiles, where I had the privilege of sampling 5 different Port wines (for D. Antónia, for those interested) . These are some examples of wineries but there are more and all with a lot of quality
