Miller's Market (and all the Little Millers) is a family owned and operated business and they have the best ice cream. After coffee, Alaskan's love their ice cream! Whether getting out and enjoying a cone outside or pulling up to one of the ice cream huts, make sure to do what the locals do: eat ice cream!!

Local Hiking Trails

My favorite part of the Guide Book is sharing about all the great trails you can take to explore the beautiful outdoors of Alaska. From easy and kid friendly, to extremely difficult, there is a trail for everyone. It is strongly recommended to not hit the trail without the necessary supplies in a day pack: bear spray, food, water, first aid, etc.
This is a great introductory hike for regular hikers! For more information: http://www.alaska.org/detail/bodenburg-butte-trail

A lovely hike in the Talkeetna Mountains. Located by Independence Mine, it is a great place to go for a hike and explore some Alaskan history in the same day! Gold Cord Lake makes for a fine family outing with a hike up a 1 mile well trodden trail. The destination is a lake that’s peculiarly situated—walled in on a shelf, high above the valley floor.
