Hiking
Part of the Hike Discovery network this moderate to difficult 5.3-km loop coastal trail features sea stacks, whales, icebergs and eagles as well as views of the communities of Port Rexton and Trinity. This trail has been selected by Travel and Leisure Magazine as one of the top 35 walks in North America and Europe in its August 2003 World Best Awards issue. Approx time - 2hrs

Skerwink Trail

This 5km trail offers open and grand vistas looking down the bay. The trail itself meanders along the low cliff network, over a bed of cushioned roots and heather, making it quite a relaxing hike.
Much quieter than the Skerwink Trail, you may find yourself out aside the ocean with nothing but the sounds of the waves crashing for company.
Top-Tip - For added adventure, find you way down to the waters edge and look back up at the cliffs. Cliffs are on an angle so it makes for an easy up and down.

This craft brewery changed the industry in Newfoundland when it opened back in 2016, making way for making other micro-breweries in the province and now a buzzing beer scene.
Try a flight of their ever rotating list of beers, munch on Oh My Cheeses food truck, and sit and enjoy the atmosphere.
Great spot to chill out at any time of day, but make sure you make it to their Trivia Night on Thursdays at 8pm for a heated clash of locals over general knowledge and Pictionary!
Another fun weekly event is Open-Mic Night on Sundays 7.30pm - 10pm. Free beer for performing, but otherwise sit back and enjoy a night hosted by resident artist and brewer, Chris.

99 Main RoadThis cozy little cafe offers up a great selection of fresh paninis, homemade soups, delicious cakes and espresso coffee.
The menu is vegetarian and all the produce is grown on site.
Sue makes incredible cakes! Our favourite thing to do is get a couple of different slices, cut them up into small bites, and enjoy the variety over a coffee.
Fun Tip for Kids - They have chickens, so if you ask for some bread inside you can go and feed them!

Chef Katie Hayes has created a wonder, set in Upper Amherst Cove overlooking the bay, with the chance to see Whales and Icebergs while sipping on a Rhubard Lemonade and eating fresh local seafood.
Our favourite meals are the pizzas, Moose Burger, Tomato Cod Soup and the Pork Belly Salad.
This restaurant is all farm-to-table, the entrance is lined with the fresh vegetables and herbs that will adorn your meal as you sit in their masterfully crafted space.
It is a 40min drive from the Hostel. We aim to have lunch here while we are taking a trip to Elliston+Bonavista.
