My Top Ten Activity Suggestions 1. The beaches here are great. If you’re a shell collector, you’ll have a bounty. I love collecting shark’s teeth, also. Although I’ve never tried it, many of our guests have enjoyed horseback riding on the beach. 2.A personal favorite is historic downtown Fernandina Beach. So many restaurants, shops, bars, and more. I have a favorite art gallery here, Island Art on North2nd. 3.For history buffs: Fort Clinch. It’s open everyday, but reenactments are done the first weekend of each month. Also, the Amelia Island Museum of History is worth a visit. 4.The local waters are great for kayaking, canoeing, and jet skiing. One of my favorite destinations on the jet ski is… 5.Cumberland Island! Wild horses make their homes here. It’s also accessible by ferry. 6.One word: GOLF 7.There are many places suitable for biking, but I like the newly built bike trail that winds around the beach. Just 5.7 miles. 8.Dining: The only downside is that it’s difficult to choose. I keep a list in the apartment with recommendations from past guests. 9.There are many choices, both on and off the island, if you’re into antiquing. 10.Venturing a little further? Jacksonville has so much to do and see. I love St. Johns Town Center and have a couple favorite historic neighborhoods. If you’re willing to drive 1.2 hours, St Augustine is a great place to visit.
