Grandfather Vineyard & Winery is located on a mountainside at the base of Grandfather Mountain on the Watauga River. It is a great place to chill.
It was founded in 2003 when Steve and Sally Tatum, in search of a hobby, planted a small block of wine grapes for some home winemaking. After a few years they realized the High Country of North Carolina had a similar climate as many of the famous grape growing regions around the world. In 2005 Steve and Sally tripled the size of the vineyard. His hobby then became more than just a hobby. After years of hard work and many long hours with help from their family, they, opened their doors in May of 2011.
During a tasting, you will sample a variety of dry wine and red wines.

Stop in for a tasting year around from Noon until 6pm every day but Mondays. They offer wine for sale, wine tastings and educational tours.
Call them at 828-898-9090 or 828-260-1790 to verify hours. They also offer private tours and tastings with advance scheduling of at least one week
