Entrance to the visitors center is free. There is a charge for parking. If you would like to avoid that charge, park outside on Donner Pass Road then walk in.
The newly remodeled visitors center offers the story and history of the area. Truckee locals are very much tied to the history of the area. Learn how inexperience in the mountains and tremendous storms plagued the pioneers. Never had a storm topped the snowfall of that year. For residents of the town, the large winters with our modern conveniences, and knowledge of the area, still gives us pause at the thought of brave pioneers.

Less crowded than Kings Beach, this spot is where most of the locals hang out. There is a very small sign showing the way. It’s hard to spot! The speech will be less crowded and offer a little more space.

A small course with a view of Lake Tahoe. This is a good course for a low-key game of golf. Set almost in downtown Tahoe city, prices are right, weather is perfect, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Tahoe city has always been a vacation destination. The lake and surrounding beaches where the playground and escape for the citydwellers on the other side of the pass. Most notably is the property on the west shore Fluer du Lac. The property was originally constructed in 1938 as a hideaway for Henry Kaiser, who is most known as the prime contractor for the Hoover Dam as well as his creation of liberty ships during World War 2. Some scenes from The Godfather two were filmed here.
