A beautiful 1 hour hike to the top for the best view in Asker overlooking the fjord and all of Asker and Oslo. We have done this with a 5 year old. From your doorstep it is 1.5 hours to the top. Go to Nakuhel and take the marked trail from there.

There is a beautiful 5k walk around the lake. You can start from Nakuhel. There is a sandy bathing beach and many spots around the lake for swimming, fishing, kayaking. In the winter you can ice skate and ski over the frozen lake. There are many signed hiking and skiing paths from here.

3k and a 12 minute bike ride lies beautiful Hvalstrand bathing beach with a sandy beach, jumping platforms, and grassy area. Also serves as a great starting point for exploring the coastal foot and bike trail (kyststien). Free parking at turn off from the main road, and paid parking all the way in. During bathing season a small kiosk is open, as well as an upscale restaurant.

Beautiful sandy beach and swimming platform just an 8 minute bike ride. Just next to it is a brand new swimming hall for indoor swimming. In the summer there is sometimes a food truck open.

Just a 10 minute drive is our local downhill ski slope with the best view around. No ski rental available.
In the summer there are lovely trails from the parking at the ski center. One trail leads to the peak of Vardåsen offering stunning views.

Visit historical idyllic Vollen for a taste of Norwegian costal village life. Check out boutique shopping, restaurants, ice cream, sandy beaches, the Oslo Fjord museum, and stroll along the coastal path. It is even possible to take a ferry from Vollen into the port in central Oslo (Aker Brygge). After a stroll around, you can most easily take the train (L1) back to Vakås.

In late summer, Saturday and Sunday, mini-cruises leave at 12pm from Kadettangen 18b (Rigmorbryggen).
On Fridays, a ferry stopping at the islands leaves Rigmorbryggen at 13:45.
