Gastronomska scena

Many objects/restaurants in Split are open only during summer time and they are simply there to collect as much money as they can, no one can guarantee that quality there will match the price... But of course that there are few gems around and I will write them down fo you.
Great food and fair prices plus very nice ambient (walls are all made of brick & stone) this place is worth your visit & money, they offer very unique menu. Even if the food in the menu looks totally familiar to you, you will still be surprised simply because everything they cook there, they do in their own way.

Razgledavanje

If you love history in general and then especially Roman history...Then this is a place from your dreams, literally. A lot of Roman buildings, from ordinary houses to arenas and temples across Europe were made out of bricks decorated with terracotta. So they didnt last the test of time, but here in Split, almost everything is made out of pure stone, pillars and vaults are well preserved. Split is strongly attached to Roman history, Diocletian was an mastermind behind the birth of modern bureaucracy, he saved Rome from bankruptcy, he was the first to rule through tetrarchy, he led multiple successful raids across the empire and conquered revolted Alexandria, he was the first and the only emperor to abdicate voluntarily, simply the greatest son Dalmatia ever had. Modern Split was born out of his palace, where he spent his last days... Also, the very last days of mighty Western Roman Empire are attached to Split, Julius Nepos, the last emperor, spent his last days as an emperor inside Diocletian palace, he was assassinated inside the palace and that act marked the end of an empire.
This is a one of those small places where you can see a lot! Sphinx? Well,it is not so important this time, you will understand why once you enter the temple, and when you do, just look up and behold, marvelous stone carving craftsmanship! If you value such things you will be in awe. Entrance costs only about 10 kuna (1.5 EUR).

The very center of Diocletians palace, Peristil square radiates with history from its every square meter...Can you imagine that all of those huge Corinthian pillars were brought straight from the Egypt and are not all made from the same type of stone? Sphinx brought from Egypt is also there. Pillars are wonderful and well preserved, this is really an "must see" location in Split.

If you want to see something epic, an true Roman craftsmanship when it comes to engineering, then you must visit this basement halls of Diocletians palace, it was built 1700 years ago... Above its vaults and pillars are houses where people live to this day, so the vaults/pillars carry all that weight for 1700 years and from the way they look, they will be able to do it for another 1700 years....
