Sightseeing
If the weather is good, a trip up to the National Park is a must do. There's plenty of short trails and the wonderful Pouakai Crossing if you have time. Just make sure you're prepared for changeable weather.

If you have children then this a MUST DO! Free zoo, set in the beautiful Pukekura Park with a great playground too.

Local walks
Just a few minutes drive or a short walk from here is Barrett Domain, perfect for a walk in the bush and visit the ducks in the lagoon. You can enter through Aspen Place off Karamea, Roto Street or via the Riding for the Disabled Entrance.

Located between Oakura and New Plymouth is this wonderful spot. There's a car park just beside the private estate entrance and you can follow the path down beside the river to a stunning beach. Dog friendly and unspoilt - perfect!
