Most people do not realize that while the first floor has a tasting bar, the second floor has a full seating area with outdoor patio (if the weather is nice). Exchange Brewery has a great selection of craft beers and bar snacks for reasonable prices.

Ice wines are expensive! Ice wines can easily cost $50-100 per bottle. And ice wine bottles are small in total volume! However, you’re staying in Niagara-on-the-Lake, you definitely need to try the ice wine! So, you might ask, how can I indulge in some ice wine without paying the hefty price tag? Simple answer is, go to Iniskillin Winery (1499 Line 3, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, L0S 1J0). The tastings might seem expensive, but you can generally sample 3 to 4 ice wines for the price of $15 to $20 dollars. This might seem like a lot, but you will ultimately realize you actually get quite a lot of ice wine in the sampling – it’s well worth it! Great value!

Call ahead to see if the market is open – during the summer-time it is open all the time, but at other times of the year it may not be. There are many great sandwich options here too: pulled pork, chicken, as well as pizzas! And you can buy an entire bottle of wine and drink it outside on a lovely patio! Generally the food options work out to approximately $15-$20 per person, and $20 for a bottle of wine (if you are interested, they also serve wine by the glass).

While it is still technically a part of Niagara-on-the-Lake, St. David’s is about 12 km and 14 minutes away by car. Chocolate FX (335 Four Mile Creek Rd, St. Davids, ON L0S 1P0) has been previously showcased on the Food Network and offers a lot of local yummy chocolate treats. There are tours that happen here too. Research ahead, worth a visit!

Queen’s Royal Park & Queen’s Royal Park Gazebo (16 Front St, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, L0S 1J0) are popular tourist destinations. Sometimes Queen’s Royal Park is so busy you will not find a place to sit. But if you want to enjoy some quiet time beside the lake, there are two other lakeshore lookout points that are far less travelled.
First Option:
Battlefield of Fort Mississauga (454 Queen Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, L0S 1J0). Here you will find many park benches to sit on, and a secret: You can see the regular Niagara Falls fireworks (at 10pm) from here if the night sky is clear enough! Although check-ahead online to determine if Niagara Falls fireworks are indeed going to happen. During the summer-time they happen daily, but at other times of the year, they may only happen during weekends. Regardless, it’s a lovely quiet spot to enjoy the lake.
Second Option:
Ryerson Park (Niagara Blvd, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, L0S 1J0). Here you will find a few benches to sit on, and peace-and-quiet. Many tourists do not venture here.

While it’s not open all year round, Brock’s Monument (14184 Niagara Pkwy, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, L0S 1J0) located in Queenston Heights Park actually contains a spiral staircase that takes you all the way to the top – for an interesting view of the entire Niagara region! There is a small charge for climbing all the way to the top, and it’s hard to pin down exactly when its open. The entrance to Brock’s Monument is behind a giant wooden door at the base. If the monument is open for climbing the door will be open, if not, the door will be closed. It is a strenuous stair climb all the way to the top – you likely have to have some physical endurance to attempt the climb!
