In recent years, Paço de Sintra has become one of the most important cultural centers in the heart of the town of Sintra. It is part of the Cultural Landscape of Sintra, inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, on December 6, 1995. Since September 2012, it has been part of the heritage under the management of Parques de Sintra and, in 2013, it was included in the Network of European Royal Residences .
