The laid-back German Village is known for charming brick houses built by 19th-century immigrants along Beck, Mohawk, and Deshler streets. Shops selling books, traditional fudge, and handmade jewelry mingle with art galleries, German pubs, American bistros, and artisan coffee shops. In summer, the Actors’ Theatre Columbus stages outdoor Shakespeare and other plays in Schiller Park with its fountains and flower beds.

German Village is a historic and famous neighborhood in Columbus full of some of the best eats in town. Explore this area of town by foot or drive-through and find your new favorite place to dine and have drinks.
Schmidt's Sausage Haus und Restaurant is a fifth generation historic landmark in the heart of German Village, Ohio. Noted for their German sausage recipes from the packing house day along with the award winning jumbo cream puffs, cream pies and of course German chocolate cake. German entertainment five nights a week makes Schmidt's a great place to take family and out of town guests. Lines can be long but you can tour the Schmidt's fudge Haus along with quaint shops while you wait for a table. Schmidt's is also known for their classic catering along with the Schmidt food trucks roaming the neighborhoods of Columbus. You can also find Schmidt's sausages at most all the fairs and festivals in and about Ohio. Columbus' own, Schmidt's.

The Thurman Cafe or Thurman's is a cafe and bar found in the German Village district of Columbus, Ohio. It was opened in 1942 by Nick Suclescy and has remained a family owned establishment ever since. Thurman Cafe is considered to have one of the best hamburgers in the country. Thurman's is often associated with its famous burger known as the Thurmanator. It consists of a bun, lettuce, tomato, mayo, American cheese, provolone cheese, ham, sauteed onions, mushrooms, a 12-ounce burger, bacon, cheddar cheese, hot peppers, and another 12 ounce burger. The burger also comes with house made kettle chips and a pickle spear. The burger was featured on the Travel Channel's TV show Man v. Food (season 1) where the host, Adam Richman, ate a Thurman burger and was then introduced to the Thurmanator. Richman explains the Thurmanator originated as the preferred fuel for competitors in the Arnold Classic bodybuilding competition.

Getting around Columbus is easy! From our home, you have the option to drive, take the bus, Uber, Lyft, rent a bike or scooter, or walk anywhere Downtown! We are located just south of Downtown Columbus and getting to the heart of it all is just about 20 minutes away!
