If you like fruit then this is the place to go! Roadside stalls sell locally grown fruit. The best time for fruit is December to March although the in winter the pears and apples can be great value.
The town is set near Lake Dunstan which is a man made lake created by the Clyde Dam which produces a large portion of New Zealand’s electricity.
There is some great history in the area too including good mining relics.
Cromwell is approximately a 40 minute drive from Wanaka
