Helsinki Cathedral (Finnish: Helsingin tuomiokirkko, Suurkirkko; Swedish: Helsingfors domkyrka, Storkyrkan) is the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran cathedral of the Diocese of Helsinki, located in the neighbourhood of Kruununhaka in the centre of Helsinki, Finland. The church was originally built from 1830-1852 as a tribute to the Grand Duke of Finland, Tsar Nicholas I of Russia. Neighborhoods

Kruununhaka (Swedish: Kronohagen) is a neighbourhood of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Kruununhaka next to the old harbour and the city center, when Helsinki was moved from the earlier location in the mid-1660s. From the very beginning, the residents included city and state officials. Many buildings of the University of Helsinki are also situated in Kruununhaka. The area has become known for its vintage shops, cafés and restaurants.

Food scene

A block away from the apartment you can find delicious authentic Korean dishes for a demanding eater. My favourite is Dyaejinbulgogi 돼지불고기 with beer and Soju (Korean spirits made from rice, wheat, or barley). They do take-away, a lunch buffet during weekdays and á la carte in the evenings. http://www.koreahouse.fi/yhteystiedot.htm

Public Sauna / SPA

Sauna's are a big part of the Finnish culture and state-of-mind. Though nudity in sauna proper is usually required it is not mandatory. Sauna is not about sexuality, but rather zen like relaxation and rejuvenation.

Kaupunkia koskevat ohjeet

Liikkuminen

Walk or use public transport.

Downtown Helsinki is tiny and very safe even at night. You can walk everywhere or if you are in a hurry our public transport system is solid and reliable. Trams, busses, ferries and the Metro are an easy and cost effective way to get there :) All you have to do is to download the HSL-app to buy a ticket. See more: https://www.hsl.fi/en
Tapoja säästää

Don't buy bottled water – drink from the tap.

Tap water in Helsinki and Finland is great. Few years ago it was tested to be cleaner than bottled water :) It's safe to drink and refill your water bottles. https://www.visitfinland.com/article/water-a-pure-reason-to-visit-finland/

Try a public sauna

Sauna is in the heart of Finnish culture and it's a great way to relax and talk to complete strangers :) In Finland you sauna nude, but it is not required. Also men and women usually sauna separately. The unisex saunas require a bathing suite. There are some 8 public saunas in Helsinki. Try one of them!
