OLD APPLE SHED ON THE MORNINGTON PENINSULA With the first vines planted in the 1980's, the Mornington Peninsula is one of Australia's newest wine regions. Albeit a newer region, it's cooler climate and fertile land has quickly made it one of Australia's most renowned regions for Pinot, Chardonnay & Sparkling varieties. Although we're some of the new kids on the block with our cellar door established in 2017, the vines at Tallarida Estate are some of the oldest in the region, planted in 1988. With over 30 years experience, our winemaker, Mal Stewart, conjures up some of the most balanced wines and ciders you'll ever taste. Traditional Method Champenoise Cuvée, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Moscato, Rosé, Shiraz, Ciders and many more decadent delights, we have little something for everyone at Old Apple Shed on the Mornington Peninsula. Live music every Sunday

Point Nepean is truly one of Victoria's beautiful natural landscapes. A special place with so much to see and discover. Point Nepean National Park’s rich Indigenous and European heritage, plus its wonderful views of Port Phillip Bay and the ocean, make this a very special part of Victoria. The town's general store and post office date from 1927 and are still in operation, the current owners have revamped the space to be a stunning café and homewares store where you can sit and watch the world go by. The RAAF trained here during World War II and the military buildings were later taken over by the Education Department which established Somers Camp. The area is noted for its koala population, its foreshore walks and for Coolart mansion and estate. Coolart is a 87.5 hectare historic farming property and homestead surrounded by significant wetlands, that face onto the South section of the beach. There are a series of walking tracks throughout the park and wetlands which allow you to explore the coastal woodlands, wetlands, lagoons, and formal gardens surrounding the homestead.

Somers is a popular seaside town with a safe and beautiful swimming beach located on the southern shore of the Mornington Peninsula between Balnarring and Merricks, facing out towards the western entrance to Western Port. Somers Beach is 3 km long, running between the eastern bluffs and rocks and the mouth of Merricks Creek. There are three sections to the beach - the eastern end (accessed from Mirimar Rd via 100+ staircase) with it's popular leash-free dog zone, the central area with the Somers Yacht Club at the Alexandra Avenue end, and South beach adjacent to the historic Coolart property. All three sections of the beach face south into the Western Passage of Western Port and overlook Phillip Island. The beach is often narrow and steep with deep water at high tide, and sand and reef flats exposed at low tide, and small yachts and sail boats are commonly seen off the beach.
