You'll be happy to know that your trip to Ireland will not be devoid of a pub within walking distance of your accommodation. Roches Pub and Grill Shack is just steps away from the front door of Fado and is the best place in the neighborhood for a wholesome meal or an evening pint. We recommend the steak on a stone, washed down with a pint of Guinness, of course. Check online for their hours, and keep in mind that they typically don't serve food Monday through Wednesday. The second nearest pub to Fado is just down the road and goes by the name of Ballagh, despite the large display name of Connolly's Pub. They also serve food and drink.

Just two miles down the road from Fado, you'll find a serene forest with ample walking paths that is deeply green every month of the year. We recommend the Aylmer walk, which spans 5 kilometers in a big circle through the park. There's also a lovely coffee shop in the heart of the forest if you're in need of a hot drink after your morning walk. Keep in mind that there is a small parking fee that must be paid at the gate upon entry.

Prosperous is the nearest town to Fado. You can find the essentials here such as a small grocery store, a Chinese food take-away, and an off license (liquor store). While we wouldn't recommend going to Londis (the small grocery store in Prosperous) for a weeks worth of shopping, it is definitely the closest place to grab something that you need on short notice. There are a few pubs and places to eat near the crossroads that has the church on one corner. There is also a lovely pitch and putt golf course in Prosperous that is convenient for those staying at Fado interested in golf.
