Always use red plate route taxis

Taxis are an economical way to get around, to and from Nonsuch there can be a fair degree of ‘soon come’ depending on the time of day. A fare shouldn’t cost any more than $150 depending on the route, baggage in the trunk incurs an additional charge. Taxis can be chartered for approximately $1,000 an hour

Walking shoes or boots

Nonsuch is lush, green and fruitful due to the high rainfall in the area. Portland generally is the wettest, greenest Parish, and at times it can be damp and cool so lightweight sweater/long sleeves is advisable especially in the winter months. The terrain is rocky and steep and so appropriate walking shoes if you would like to walk the trails. Insect repellent.

“Soon come” and “no problem”

Soon come…it is best to relax into the moments (and longer) when you find yourself waiting on someone who says soon come. They might, or they might not. A sense of humour is a must. Life is not very easy for many Jamaicans but Jamaicans are deeply resourceful and intelligent and an attitude of no problem is prevalent in the face of many problems.
