This bar is in the heart of downtown and will give you the best of what Balsam Lake has cooking on a Saturday night in the summer time. You know its a good time to stop in if the bar overflow area is filling up outside. The music is way too loud. Pro-tip, there are bean bag corn hole games in the back behind the bar, and there are darts and pool upstairs. Don't be shy to go up the stairs, its a lot more private upstairs than the crowds down by the bar.

Paradise Landing (ok food, bad service, amazing venue) offers outdoor seating right on massive Balsam Lake where boaters drive right up. Huge bar and indoor / outdoor restaurant. It got renamed Balsam Lake Lodge Lounge and Supperclub with the new management, but it’s still the same poor quality service and food. That will have outdoor seating and is family friendly. Honestly it’s the “big nice place on the lake with lots of outdoor seating” but the service there is bad and the food is “ok”.

Good food and good drinks. Not a local watering hole, close to Walmart. I recommend the sirloin steak meal and the cheese curds. The bar has frozen pads to sit your drink on to keep your drink cold.

The place that I always go for good bar food and drinks and it’s kid friendly before dark is the bar called The Thirsty Otter. It’s your standard Wisconsin bar but the service is good and the food is good. The best restaurant in Town is the Indianhead Supperclub. You can get a prime rib or a decent steak and a glass of wine. But Indianhead doesn’t do outdoor seating and might need a reservation. Paradise landing is huge and amazing views on Balsam Lake but it has bad service and ok food (it’s the nicest place in town but the worst quality experience apart from the people and the lake views).
