In 1895, Charles Segerstrom, the first postmaster for the town now known as Siren, applied with the postal department for a name for the town. He choose "Syren", the Swedish word for "lilac" based on the abundant lilacs in the area. Presumably, the postal department thought this was a misspelling and when they granted the application, they changed the spelling to "Siren."

Things to do
You can access the Gandy Dancer trail in downtown Siren! The southern segment of the trail travels for 47 miles in Wisconsin through the communities of Centuria, Milltown, Luck, Frederic, Siren and Webster, ending in the town of Danbury at the Minnesota border. A state trail pass is required for bicycling.

A great golf course that is beautifully manicured. This course is a 19-hole championship golf course (yes, there is one bonus hole!) located in Northwestern Wisconsin, in Siren. It was built in 2001 and Siren National has established itself as a Northwest Wisconsin Destination Course. Mature Pine and Hardwood forests line the Bentgrass Fairways and greens offering a rewarding outing to the veteran and beginner golfer alike.

Bring your towels and washcloths as none are provided.
Bed linens and pillows are provided BUT towels and washcloths are not so plan accordingly. We provide shampoo & conditioner (no body wash), hand soap, hand sanitizer, SEPTIC SAFE TP, 1 roll of paper towels, 1 kitchen scrubby, dish soap, coffee maker compatible with K-cups (please bring your favorites for your own use) & TWO gallon jugs of water. The cabin's water is tested annually & is safe for use; however, due to iron levels, it's best to plan to use bottled water for drinking/cooking. The items provided are enough to get you started but if you run out, Fourwinds Market is just 4 miles away

Car, boat, ATV, snowmobile, bicycle...
You can access two restaurants on the lake via boat. There are hundreds of miles of snowmobile and ATV trails in the area. The Gandy Dancer trail is a few miles from the cabin and offers a great place to bike, run, hike, etc. without car traffic aside from road crossings.

Things we think you should know, dontcha know
Dontcha know, Uffda, Ope, "Pop", Hot Dish, Up North, Oh Jeez, Recombobulation and Duck, Duck, Gray Duck are all terms you may hear. Up North is a place but also a state of mind. Things move a little slower "up north" so we hope you enjoy the slower pace while you're here!

CHECK OUT INSTRUCTIONS
CHECK OUT - check out time is 11am. Please ensure the following is completed:
Collect your items from fridge, freezer & kitchen - leaving no food items
Thoroughly wash, dry & put away all kitchen items
Empty bathroom & kitchen garbage into dumpster which is located halfway down the main driveway
Be sure no food is left behind on kitchen counter or dining room table as that can attract insects & mice
Clean up any excessive dirty areas including pet hair
Double check that you have gathered all of your personal belongings
Turn off all ceiling fans, all lights & close/lock windows and the door.
