The Varna Archaeological Museum was established by the Varna Archaeological Society on the initiative of Karel and Herman Shkorpil. Only 8 km north of Varna, by the sea, is the first and oldest out-of-town residence of the Bulgarian rulers of the last Bulgarian kingdom. This is the famous Euxinograd, famous for its magnificent gardens, a monument of park art of world renown. The palace is an immovable cultural value of national importance.
The whole "Euxinograd" spreads over nearly 900 acres of land owned by the Bulgarian state, and includes in addition to the main building of the palace, greenhouses for rare plants and fresh flowers, French garden and English park, wine cellar with newly planted vineyards, sports complex , several holiday villas, the former residence of the head of state, a hotel and administrative part with a restaurant, as well as several buildings, which in the past housed the royal servants and the stable.

According to studies, the height of the vaulted structures was over 20 m, and the total area of the facility was about 7000 m². The baths functioned until the end of the 3rd century.

The first settlers of the zoo were the bear Maxim, donated by the sailors to the destroyer squadron "G. Dimitrov ”in 1956 and the red deer Longoz. Until the construction of the bear farm, Maxim was tied with a chain to a tree. The bear farm was inhabited in 1958. The lakes are inhabited by pink pelicans. Until 1973-74, animals were obtained from the zoo in Sofia and from zoos abroad - kangaroos, llamas, panthers, penguins, swans from Berlin and others.
