A beatiful manor, built in the 18th century as a summer residens for a rich, local family. This is a wood building, built in a classical english style. They painted the facade so it looked like a continental building made of bricks. That was the fashion these days. You can still see the brick painting on the walls. The park surrounding the house is very beautiful and has a famous labyrint. Walk through it with the peacocks watching you. Or you can visit the herb garden and walk over some of the romantic bridges. Bring some food and have a lovely picnic in the park.

This manor is about 20 minutes from my place. Fossesholm Manor is a cultural gem for the whole family. In 1541, the sheriff of Akershus len, Peder Hansen Litle, gathered the enormous Fossgodset. The estate provided the basis for perhaps the country's first major investment in sawmill operation and timber trading with Europe. In 1763, trader Jørgen von Cappelen bought the farm and a large-scale development and modernization was carried out. Today, the main building is a museum, where you can enjoy the beautiful interiors from the farm's heyday in the 18th century. The rest of the farm offers a doll's exhibition, home front museum and changing art exhibitions. There is also a utility art shop and a small café. Children can dress up as landowners, jump in the hay, or greet sheep, hens and peacocks. It is possible to hold various events at Fossesholm all year round. Here there are venues that are very suitable for weddings, christenings, memorials, courses, concerts or the like. Fossesholm Herregård er en kulturell perle for hele familien. Its about 20 minutes from my place and its a nice place to take the family for a picnic or attend different arrangements. The museum is only open in the summer season. Check the website to see the opening hours.

During the winter it is a really nice place for slalom, but during summertime it's a very nice place for Downhill cycling. The place also has a climbing park with zip-lines. Skimore Drammen is a year-round activity park. In the cold months, they are a winter paradise for young and old, with a separate park for skiers and snowboarders who like to do tricks and jump high! Modern snow cannons ensure excellent conditions throughout the plant, from December to the end of March. That means that although the grass is green in your garden, it is good with snow in the ski and our snowboard slopes. In the summer there is trail biking and downhill that applies. The facility consists of a total of nine slopes with varying levels. If this is your first time out cycling, you hire one of their skilled people instructors who give you a thorough introduction to cycling like extreme sports! The activity park also houses a climbing park five different trails with varying degrees of difficulty. Here you will find the whole family’s favorite trail, whether you’re 7 or 70.

Vikersundbakken or Vikersund Hill is a ski flying hill at Vikersund in Modum, Norway, about 30 minuts from my place. It is one of the two largest purpose-built ski flying hills in the world. Nine world records have been set there, including the current record of 253.5 meters, set by Stefan Kraft. The complex consists of a large hill, a normal hill and several training hills. While you visit Vikersundbakken you can take a zipline down the hill, try the pumptrack for bikes, an airtrack(trampoline in the air)or you can walk the 1078 stairs from the bottom to the top!

Lakes near me

This is a really nice lake with a sandy beach surrounding it. It also has a lot of green areas to play football and an area for beach volley ball. The place has toilets and an open kiosk during the summer season. And the best of all, its close to my place! You could walk, but its probably best to take a car if you are bringing a lot of stuff.

This small lake is a 15 minute walk from my place, but its easier to find with a car. It offers clean water, few people and beautiful surroundings. I will be happy to guide you if you want to walk! Its always a few degrees warmer in the water than other lakes in the district. And of cours much more quiet. My private swimming pool:-)

Beaches in the Drammen fiord. (Ocean)

This is about 40 minutes from my place, but it is really worth the drive. The road is close to the fiord and you drive past a lot of beautiful views and other beaches. The beach is nice for all ages, but escpasially for small kids, because it isnt so deep. Its a kiosk, a toilet and a diving pier here. If you dont like sand, there are lots of areas with grass here too. The parking lot is big and close to the beach. But you should get here early on hot summer days, otherwise it could be tricky to get a parking space.

Natur and hiking

This is an exciting and a bit demanding walk through a 10.000 year old canyon. Its 1300 meters long and the walls on each side is 60 meters tall. The canyon is filled with water and rocks. I recommend good shoes and a helmet. (Rocks might fall from the top, but usually dont.) Never walk after heavy rain or if its closed. It could be dangerous. If you manage to stay dry most of the hike you are into a surprise at the end. Try to keep dry climbing through a waterfall...(dont worry, its a latter on the worst parts, and ropes to keep you safe) When you get through the canyon you are rewarded at the top with a beautiful lake. You might as well take a bath, since you are already wet. This is a trip you do during the summer season. I think most kids from the age of 5 can manage this hike with a little bit of help from their parents. Its like a mini-world of everything and very exciting for both parents and kids. P.S Dont wear wellingtons! You will slip!!

If you want a nice view over the area you live in you can visit Jonsknuten. Its about half an hours drive from my place and it is possible for children to reach the top. The road up to the highest point in Kongsberg, Jonsknuten, with its 904 meters above sea level, is not long if you park at Knutehytta. About 1.2 km for the longest it is from there to the top. From Knutehytta you have two options: You can follow the gravel road to the end, where a steep and rocky path takes you up to the top. (Approx. 1 km.) Or you can take the trail from Knutehytta towards Meheia and walk about 1.2 km. past, among other things, beautiful Jonstjern and climb the last steep meters to the top. From Jonsknuten you get an incredible view in all directions. Safely guarded by the majestic Knot Tower with its 92 meters above the ground, you can enjoy Skrimtoppen and Gaustatoppen in the distance while enjoying a rest on the slopes. The fire tower up there works well as a shelter if the weather is not on your side. The trip takes about 30-40 minutes up the longest road (not the stone path, it is shorter). With children, of course, it takes a little longer as the path is quite steep. There is also an opportunity to go up to the top from Brånabekk. The road from there can be described here: Out for a walk: Brånabekk to Jonsknuten. Use good footwear.
