If you're into history, then this cool little museum is worth a visit. With more than 40,000 artifacts (all items local to Michigan) spread across 8 buildings, there's a lot to see. An interesting and informative way to spend an afternoon.

For car nuts and history buffs alike, this is a great place to spend some time. There are over 400 cars to check out, plus a really neat restored 1940's style diner where you can grab a tasty slice of pecan pie. Only about 15 mins drive from the house.

This is our favorite zoo by far (mostly because of the miles of beautiful walking trails, and because you can feed the giraffes!). It's about a 45 minute drive from the house, so pack a picnic and spend the day. Binder Park is beautifully laid out, with huge spacious enclosures, and a wonderful selection of animals. We have a blast every time we go. Be sure to wear good walking shoes, and don't forget to visit the 'Zuri National Park'!

It's about a 45 minute drive from the house, so pack a picnic and spend the day. Binder Park is beautifully laid out, with huge spacious enclosures, and a wonderful selection of animals. We have a blast every time we go. Be sure to wear good walking shoes, and don't forget to visit the 'Zuri National Park'!

This lovely pre-civil war historic manor house is free to tour, so if you get a chance, roam the beautiful grounds (which offer lovely views of Gull Lake), and wander around inside the house. It's a fascinating bit of local history.

This 19 acre park offers a one room school house, an old Victorian home, a grist mill (that still grinds cornmeal you can purchase), and a cider mill. In the fall they do horse drawn wagon rides, and serve apple dumplings with their home-made cider.
