Nature and Adventure
These are locations that we love to visit. Some are a bit out of town, but if you're up for an adventure then we highly recommend checking them out! If you want something closer by, then check out our close to home section.
This is an awesome beach to visit. If you walk down to the main sandy beach area, and then turn left and continue 20-30min along the beach, there is a small stream. Follow this stream and you will arrive at an amazing little waterfall between two rock faces. You'll want decent footwear, ideally hiking boots. Also, be prepared to get your feet wet and watch out for slippery ground!

This is an awesome beach to visit. If you walk down to the main sandy beach area, and then turn left and continue 20-30min along the beach, there is a small stream. This is a great little beach to visit, and is also the first section of the Juan De Fuca trail. Parking can be crazy in the summer. The beach is approximately a 30min hike from the parking lot. Depending on your hiking ability you might want to count on a bit longer then that.

Jocelyn Hill Trailhead

This is 2 hours from Victoria, but is a beautiful place to explore. We recommend taking a day trip and visiting a few of the Juan De Fuca beaches along the way.

Botanical Beach

This is probably the largest sandy beach in the Victoria area AT LOW TIDE. We love spending a sunny low tide afternoons at Witty's. If the tide is mid to high, you might want to consider visiting a beach that is closer by.
There are two main access points:
1. The main Witty's Lagoon parking lot along Metchosin Rd.
Note: requires a 15min walk to the beach
2. Witty Beach Rd., follow to the end and there is parking. Make sure you obey parking signs so you don't get towed.
Note: short 5min walk to beach! large staircase to get down the hill.

This trail is in our backyard (seriously, it is right behind the trees in the backyard). There are nearby access points, so if you want to go for a walk this is a good option that doesn't require driving anywhere.

This trail is in our backyard (seriously, it is right behind the trees in the backyard). There are nearby access points, so if you want to go for a walk this is a good option that doesn't require driving anywhere.

No reservations. This is a popular local spot, so be prepared to stand in line. It's worth the wait! In our experience the line moves quite quickly.
