This is probably one of the most CLASSIC places to go in Holland! Although it's a little pricier than some ice cream joints, you've got to go so you can say you did! This is the place I grew up biking to. I would always be begging my parents to take me! They actually now have mini golf as well! There is also a location on the southside of Holland and one in zeeland.

This is probably the second-most classic place to get ice cream :) Last time I was there, they gave far more generous serving sizes than most other ice cream places. The store also has common necessities for cooking, camping, and beach going.

This is one of my top favorite places to go for lunch. Great soups, sandwiches, and has a "fancy" feel, but relatively fair prices.

Ugh, the sushi here is SO GOOD. So when my wife and I go out, we always get spring rolls, dumplings (aka pot stickers; SO GOOD), and a few sushi rolls to share. Seriously we eat sushi quite a bit, and this is one of our top places! Very reasonably priced, plus the scene is quite nice downtown Holland!

Beach Going, Walking, adventuring!
One of the most gorgeous beaches in all of Michigan! Need I say more? Seriously gorgeous beach, ice cream available right there, frequent volleyball games and cookouts. Take a walk out to the end of the pier to get a great view of the Lake. If you've got fishing gear, many people catch fish off the pier. If you are a walker, try walking the beach from Tunnel Park to the State Park and back. Great workout!

It has a slight advantage over the State Park primarily because of it's proximity to Lakewood Beach House (only .7 miles), but also the feel is a bit more family oriented. It also has a great dune you can run up and down. Excellent playground for the kids. Plenty of picnic tables and grills so you can spend the whole day!

This is about a 25-30 minutes drive from Holland, but it is a little known gem. It has several miles of trails through "Grand Ravines," which are basically like steep hills created by years of erosion from natural creeks and rivers. Many great spots to take photos!

Great place to ride your bike! I would say these are definitely beginner level trails for bikers. If you are a seasoned mountain biker, check out my reviews of other trails. But Riley trails are also well known as great places for walking. I would guess there are maybe 20-30 miles of trails total. But they have loops as short as 2-3 miles.

This is another slightly less busy beach with a great park for kids and a very short walk to the beach. If you’re looking for a slightly longer bike ride or just a change in scenery, hit up Kouw park!

Great intermediate mountain biking trail. Lots of green and blue. There are a few technical spots where the trail is narrow and lots of roots. About half the trail is woods and ravines, while the other half is fields. They also have a pretty sweet downhill/jump track!

It is about 4 miles total of beginner and intermediate level trail. The west loop is a bit easier with wider trail and not so many sharp turns and obstacles. East loop is fun ups and down and many tight squeezes between trees.

However, they have the ONLY and the BEST groomed cross country ski trails within an hour drive.

Kayaking/Paddle Boarding
Pigeon lake is a small lake with access to a slow moving river. This is an excellent place for kayaking or paddle boarding. Fishing is also good in Pigeon lake. If you have a boat, Pigeon lake is a great place to launch your boat if you want to get out to Lake Michigan more quickly than Lake Macatawa. If you are wanting to paddle board or Kayak, take Lakeshore drive across the bridge and then take a quick right onto what appears to be a backroad. There are lots of places to park and launch your kayaks or paddle boards along this dirt road. Nearest bathrooms are at the boat launch.
