Only 5 minute drive away, Centenial park is a small but beautiful park to take a meandering stroll through tall cedars and douglas fir trees. There are some small hills. Many people bring their dogs and sometimes horses to enjoy the walk. Bring your tennis rackets to the public tennis courts for a match or take in a local rugby or baseball game.

If you don't mind heights and love amazing views, this is the place for you. That said, you can get pretty similar views for free if you're driving over the malahat and stop at the designated viewing points.

12 Erie StIf you're going to Victoria and only have one day, I highly recommend Beacon Hill Park! It is 125 acres of beautiful trees, duck ponds and gardens. Visit the Beacon Hill Children's Farm and hang out with the goats (HINT: the farm is not just for children to enjoy :) You can take in an outdoor movie during the movie summer series, watch the locals play a game of cricket. The park is snuggled between the downtown core, the Dallas Rd. Waterfront and the quaint neighborhoods of James Bay and the Cook Street Village.

Durrance Lake is about a 10 minute drive away and offers a fairly flat and even trail to walk and take in the views of the lake. It is quiet most of the year but on hot summer days, it is a very popular swimming spot, so plan to get there early!

A fantastic and fun place to ride or rent dirt bikes! Dirt Bike Adventures offers something for everyone, from introductory lessons and equipment rental for beginners to overnight camping and access to many acres of beautiful shawnigan lake dirt biking.

For an easy oceanside walk, I recommend Pat Bay Park. It'slocated about 15 minutes north on West Saanich Road, right across from the airport and by the coastguard base. Harbour seals can usually be spotted swimming and sunbathing from the trail head.

Should you be travelling up island, the Brentwood Bay-Mill Bay Ferry is only a 3 minute drive. There are many nearby local attractions including Saanich Fairgrounds, Butchart Gardens, Gore Park, Centennial Park, Polo Club and so much more!
