A quiet neighborhood atop a gently rising hill. Just close enough to downtown Redmond so that the shops, trails, parks, restaurants, and coffee shops are all walking distance. But far enough away to be a quiet green place so typical of the Pacific Northwest. We have lived in this area for over 12 years and loved everyday. Please take time to explore the trail system, walk by a river where salmon swim, or visit Lake Sammamish.

Woodinville is a wonderful little village that’s become something of a wine haven over the years. They have a number of nice wine tasting rooms, distilleries, breweries, and even a meadery within walking distance from each other. There’s also plenty of great food to try. Woodinville is a 20 minute drive from the unit.

In the middle of Redmond Town Center is a wonderful place to shop for kids and adult books. You wouldn’t think the home of Amazon would have much by way of book stores but we do! And we love them 🙂

If you are a budding remote control aircraft enthusiast or have one in your crew you’re going to love this place. This is my go to place for crafts projects for myself and for young people I’m trying to bribe in to a love for building.

I love love love this store. It is much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside (yes, that’s a TARDIS reference!). They have 2 floors of half priced/used books, projects, and other knickknacks. You could spend hours in here if you love books. I know I do! You’ll also find some books from here inside the unit above the fireplace.

Uncle’s games is our little corner of board and card gaming heaven. They have a D&D or Magic the Gathering game on most weekends and are super friendly. The staff are great and always have great recommendations for gamers of all ages. They also sell legos and puzzles for all ages. A wonderful place to just hang out and soak in a little bit of Redmond nerd culture. This is my happy place. Yes, I’m a nerd 🤓

Uncle’s games is our little corner of board and card gaming heaven. They have a D&D or Magic the Gathering game on most weekends and are super friendly. The staff are great and always have great recommendations for gamers of all ages. They also sell legos and puzzles for all ages. A wonderful place to just hang out and soak in a little bit of Redmond nerd culture. This is my happy place. Yes, I’m a nerd 🤓
Great joint for a quick burger. They have a lot of specialty burgers. Try the Cluck Norris and it’s wide ranging chicken flavors!

Catch a movie on a comfy recliner! This is Nav’s favorite movie place and they serve cocktails as well as food while you watch. Not the cheapest way to watch a show but definitely one that counts as a treat. This was also a great way to go and see movies as we were first emerging from our Covid induced bubble because social distancing is easy.

By far our favorite coffee shop in Redmond. Opened in the 80s Victor's is an institution in Redmond. They have no wifi and they are proud of it. Try the Java Jane if you have a sweet tooth. Nav's favorite is the Orange Mocha.

We buy a lot of our groceries at this Trader Joe’s. I know that Trader Joe’s is a bit of a west coast tradition so if you’re visiting from the east coast or elsewhere in the world this place is well worth checking out.

The best Indian food within walking (15 minutes) or driving (5 minutes) of our unit. The food can be a bit on the spicy side but is some of the best in the area. For vegetarians we can recommend paneer tikka masala and gobi manchurian. If you like meat the chicken tikka masala and lamb curry are quite good. They have a fully separated take out area and are on most food delivery platforms.

A relatively new place in Redmond this pizza restaurant is operated by the folks from Woodblock and specializes in New York style thin crust pizza. They do throw in some pacific northwest twists that are well worth trying. We love their Margherita pizza.

This place is one of Nav’s favorites. Great coffee, sandwiches, and little sweet treats which she loves. I personally love their cappuccino and fresh croissants.

Cool little creperie that serves authentic Lavazza coffee. One of the few places in Redmond that do. I hear they’re now serving falafel and gyros as well although I’ve never tried them. Go check this local Redmond haunt out.

Sightseeing
A wonderful little river with a trail that runs by it. We’ve spent whole days just walking this trail. The trail connects the towns of Redmond, Woodinville, Bothell, and Kenmore and is fully paved so you can walk, bike, skate, or take a stroller. The river itself is wonderfully calm and runs between our 2 big lakes: Sammamish and Washington. I take my kayak on the river all the time during the summer

No waves here so feel free to take your Kayak, tube, or paddle board down for a lazy day on the river. You can either put in from Luke McRedmond Park close to downtown Redmond or go to Idylwood park to get in through Lake Sammamish. There's also a long trail (Sammamish River Trail) that runs along the river suited for hiking, biking, skating, or just a light walk.

A wonderful little beach park on Lake Sammamish. About a 15 minute drive from our Airbnb. Comes with a Children’s play area, restrooms, picnic areas, and of course, a lake beach. One of my favorite places to get my kayak in the water. The lake is huge and does have motorized traffic so so be careful if you take a kayak or canoe in. Hot tip: if you can’t find parking by the lake there is an overflow parking area up the street. Most people miss it so there’s always parking there.

3650 West Lake Sammamish Pkwy NEA wonderful little beach park on Lake Sammamish. About a 15 minute drive from our Airbnb. Comes with a Children’s play area, restrooms, picnic areas, and of course, a lake beach. One of my favorite places to get my kayak in the water. The lake is huge and does have motorized traffic so so be careful if you take a kayak or canoe in. Hot tip: if you can’t find parking by the lake there is an overflow parking area up the street. Most people miss it so there’s always parking there.
This is an expansive wooded area which includes full sized soccer fields, a velodrome, a dog park, an RC aircraft field, and play areas. Great place for a bike ride, a picnic, or just some family fun. It’s about a 30 minute walk or a 15 minute drive from the Airbnb.

Winters are about quiet solitude and also the time when the creek and river are at their fullest. Never a dull time on the trail. Take lots and pictures and don't be afraid to share!

Redmond Lights Festival
Redmond Lights celebrates the City’s diverse holiday traditions, cultures, and faiths. Follow the lights down Cleveland and 164th by foot or by car to Redmond Town Center where the festivities continue with Santa, business window decorating contests, and blinker stops. Along the way enjoy musical entertainment, refreshments, and fun activities for the whole family. The annual event runs December 1st through January 4th so save the date and prepare to be jolly!
