About Pinehurst
The western Sierra foothills and canyons have been home to Native Americans for thousands of years, including the Mono and Yokuts. The modern history of Pinehurst began with a logging operation, Neff Mills, around which a community grew. Pinehurst Lodge operates in the original sawmill building, more than 100 years old. Our building, the former Pinehurst Market, was built in 1963. Other landmarks of our community include the US Forest Service's Pinehurst Work Station, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and since the 1970s, home to the 'Horseshoe Meadow Hotshots' firefighting crew.

The Sequoia Riverlands Trust operates two open space preserves on scenic Dry Creek Road, both within a 45 minute drive (if you are coming from the South, you can take that route to get here). Dogs welcome! Check their website for open days and facilities available:

The Cedarbrook Picnic/BBQ area is about 1 mile away. It's in a shady canyon with a small pool and a stream you can walk along to find a small waterfall. It's not a well-used trail, so you may find it overgrown. Dogs are OK here!
