There are so many great places to eat in Blowing Rock and so many of them are worth the time to try. These are our favorites that we would personally recommend. Feel free to peruse the list and give some of them a try for yourself.
If you’re looking for a great cup of coffee and a great environment to enjoy it in…it doesn’t get better than Bald Guy Brew in Blowing Rock. It is miles ahead of the “other” coffee in town. In fact, if you’re at our place shortly after we’ve been there…you’ll likely find a bag on the counter.

Bald Guy Brew Blowing Rock

Los Arcoiris is the best local spot for authentic Mexican fare. They’re tucked out of the way, right off of 321, just inside Boone and is a local favorite. Generous portions, wide selection and affordable menus are your treat.
While you’re there, try the Burrito Diablo for a spicy treat…paired perfectly with a Boonshine Squatch.

300 Jonas Ridge HwyLos Arcoiris is the best local spot for authentic Mexican fare. They’re tucked out of the way, right off of 321, just inside Boone and is a local favorite. Generous portions, wide selection and affordable menus are your treat.
While you’re there, try the Burrito Diablo for a spicy treat…paired perfectly with a Boonshine Squatch.
The Dan’l Boone Inn is the only restaurant that I’d consider “touristy” on my list. Its been around for a very long time and harkens the feel of the High Country from years ago.
The restaurant is in the heart of Boone, but well worth the drive. You’ll dine inside the home of a Doctor’s family from early in the 20th century and food will be served family style, and southern of course.
Most people like to go for lunch or dinner but I recommend the breakfast. Why? Because if you like a good southern cooked breakfast with country ham, grits, the most heavenly biscuits this side of the pearly gates then you won’t find a better option.
Oh…did I mention their breakfast prices are considerably cheaper than dinner for the same experience?
Pro Tip: Red eye gravy + country ham biscuit = flavor explosion.

The Gamekeeper Inn is an absolute treat in the area. If you’re looking for a nice dinner out without breaking the bank, that has plenty of outdoor seating, incredible cuisine, and a unique ambience, don’t miss the this place. As a bonus, the stonework that you’ll see in the building was done by the same gentleman that built the Grand Cabin, Blowing Rock.

As of this writing, in late October of 2023, the Mexican Rock is one of the newest additions to the Blowing Rock food scene. While we were sad to see one of our favorites go, Mexican Rock is a great replacement. This isn’t your standard Latin fare either, they have some real surprises on the menu.
