Best Vegetarian Brunch in Dublin Not strictly a vegetarian restaurant but it has great vegetarian and vegan options which they don't sermonise about. Wonderful staff and dog-friendly - they even provide free dog treats. Not the cheapest place but excellent quality. Highly recommended.

Best Thai Maybe the best Thai we’ve had in a very long time. Excellent service. Stylish restaurant. My only suggestion would be that the spicy-factor seemed a little off. They have 1, 2 and 3 stars. We tried a 3-star and I would call it a 2, definitely not a 3.

THE best coffee in Dublin! Very lovely place, with amazing desserts and top-notch coffee! The upstairs is really pretty, the pistachio-nutella fudge is absolutely perfect, and the staff is super friendly. Service use to be a little bit slow while always very busy spot. Definitely our favourite coffee spot in Dublin so far!

Go here at least once when your visit Dublin! Cakes are unreal and they do lovely warm scones, deserts are awesome! Can get really busy so make sure you get there early. Usually a queue waiting outside. Love inside and out. Have a nice little balcony area you can sit inside with a view of all the cakes and things. Also do takeaway so you can pop in and take your cakes to go. Love it!!

Drinks & Nightlife

Great bar in a restored Victorian townhouse. The crowd here range between the suits on Fridays to the dressed to impress Saturday gang. The rest of the time its the townies and brunch heads that frequent this hidden away gem. You can access The Bar With No Name directly from the hotel. The Bar With No Name is named so, as the bar was never really given a name when it first opened. The Bar With No Name is anything but a secret. At weekends the bar is particularly busy, serving, artists, rock n rollas…and plethora of others besides. ‘The Bar With No Name’ is famous for its mojitos, and at weekends serves up a mean brunch menu.

Proper Dublin pub The staff are great and make you feel almost like a local and there are some locals there too, not just tourists. The selection of beers is good but you can still get a pint of Smithwicks. Almost every night with live music playing popular ones and not just the usual playlist "for the tourists". It avoids the paddywhackery of Temple Bar and the prices are reasonable. Great spot =)

P’Macs is the newly opened sister pub. The playlist tends towards mid-nineties indie which appeals to the late 20s/early 30s crowd. A particularly nice touch is added by the provision of free retro crisps like Wheelies and Snax, last seen in my school lunchbox circa 1997. You can also order food in the evenings. Dublin has seen a spate of craft beer pubs appear in the last few years, but this is definitely one of the better ones.

Paulo's favorite bar and one of the city’s treasures, the Stags Head is hidden away off a narrow passageway on Dame Street. Probably Dublin’s best preserved Victorian pub, everything here is of authentic Victorian origin – from the mahogany fittings to the mosaic marble tiles. The premises was one of the most sought after in the 1830s due to its proximity to Dublin’s “Theatreland”. In the Stags Head, its Mondays Comedy Crunch , Fridays & Saturdays The best Traditional session in Dublin City. On the last wednesday of every month experienceTHE BROWN BREAD MIX TAPE with plently of stories, music and poetry.

An eccentrically relaxed atmosphere that kicks off Thursday to Sunday with DJ’s, The Bernard Shaw is seriously cool. Gabi's favorite bar! It is a mish mash of Berlin exterior, New York interior, fine wines, classic cocktails, craft beers and some really cracking food. Take a six story, derelict, old rag trade building in Dublin city centre. Mix a container load of reclaimed bars, floors, doors, church benches, glass, timber and steel from New York. Shake with 2 years of hard graft. Finally garnish with the extraordinary culinary skills of Warren Massey.

ST PATRICK'S AND CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRALS Ancient, dramatic and intriguing, Dublin’s two cathedrals make a striking pair. Built beside a well where Ireland’s patron saint baptised converts, St Patrick’s dates back to 1220 and is filled with monuments, 19th-century stained glass and a beautiful Lady Chapel. Just a 10-minute walk away, Christ Church has attracted pilgrims for almost 1,000 years, and today one of its biggest attractions is its medieval crypt. There are plenty of other reasons to visit, but some may be fascinated by the Chapel of St Laurence O’Toole… a heart-shaped shrine contains the saint’s embalmed heart.

Perched on the site of a Danish Viking fortress from 930AD, and with its first stone cast by King John of England in 1230, Dublin Castle’s historical significance did not stop there. Under British rule from that point until 1921 (it was a key target during the 1916 Easter Rising), it has been a court, a fortress, even a site of execution in its time, and its architecture has evolved and grown with each metamorphasis. In truth, it feels more like a rambling campus than an actual castle – not many turrets in sight – but it’s the setting for every big state event, including presidential inaugurations. Wander the grounds, or take a guided tour to the state apartments and th medieval undercroft.

About 20 min walking from our place, a definite don’t miss! There’s a real “wow” moment that comes with walking into the East Wing of Kilmainham Gaol. Eerie, vast and deserted, the gaol is the largest unoccupied prison in Europe and holds countless tales within its thick, cold walls. By the time it had closed in 1924, many of Ireland’s foremost political figures had passed through its cells, including Robert Emmet, Charles Stewart Parnell, President Eamon de Valera, and the leaders of the 1916 Rising (14 of whom were executed in the stonecutter’s yard). The tour here gives a dramatic insight into the history of this forbidding prison, with its overcrowding, hardship and brutal conditions.

Merrion Square, the heart of Georgian Dublin, has an exciting cultural and events programme happening this year which is positioning it as a “go-to” place for national and international culture seekers. Enabled by Failte Ireland , the stakeholders and community around Merrion Square have come together to build awareness of the area’s rich history and heritage, and to stimulate civic pride. Today many of the houses are predominantly used as office space but there is a wealth of history attached. Oscar Wilde lived as a child at 1 Merrion Square, while W.B Yeates lived at No 82, and Daniel O’Connell at No 58.
