The garden just across the main bar is a bustling place late at night. Especially recommended for hot summer nights. The arcade passage nearby has been shot during filming of Schindler's List movie.

A kinda legend this place is. Go late at night and see for yourself. My personal memory is this: "a stuffed caiman crocodile hanging on ropes (?) above the bar, together with this alchemy baloon ; two barmans with devilish beards on them, and overall devilish look , and this bleedin' entrance to the other room via wardrobe - which is Alice in Wonderland thing. (that was a few years back then) loved it , I was just stunned like :) Overall a mad place :) Aga

There is variety of things to see. Back in the day Krakow was a capital city of Poland complete with the king and all that. That has changed in late XVI century (1596) which has started some local animosity from local patriots between Kraków and current capital city - Warszawa. The website for the visitor tours is here (under visitor information) : http://www.wawel.krakow.pl/en/ If you have no time to go and visit inside I think worthwile is going to the inner, acraded courtyard of the Castle. http://www.wawel.krakow.pl/en/pliki_ed/file/Wawel%20Hill_Map.pdf Curio: It is being discussed that we have this thing called "Wawel Chakra" up on this hill (much to the management dismay).

The heart of medieval Kraków. It has this "Wow!" effect. There is this permanent exhibition under the main square (accesible via Sukiennice) called "Rynek Underground permanent exhibition" (in polish "Podziemia Rynku") http://www.podziemiarynku.com/index.php?lang=eng

A scenic view over the city from the top of the mound. Erected in 1820-1823 by polish citizens of all territories living under foreign occupation. Between 1850 - 1854, the Austrian authorities built a brick citadel around the Mound and began using it as a strategic lookout. Tadeusz Kosciuszko was a Polish-Lithuanian military engineer, statesman, and military leader who became a national hero in Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, and the United States. Curio: There's also Mt.Kosciuszko together with national park in Snowy Mountains, New South Wales, Australia.

It is thought to be the resting place of Kraków's mythical founder, the legendary King Krakus. The mound is said to have been constructed to honour the death of King Krakus when mourning townspeople filled their sleeves with sand and dirt and brought it to the site of the Krakus Mound to create a mountain that would rule over the rest of the landscape, as King Krakus had. It is also believed that the place has some Celtic connections as during the archeological works some artifacts of Celtic origin have been unearthed.

Sowiniec, which is part of Las Wolski (Wolski forest) has Kopiec Piłsudskiego (Piłsudski's Mound - also known as Independence Mound or Freedom Mound). It was established by the Polish nation in honor of Józef Piłsudski. It is an artificial mound, which was constructed between the years, 1934 - 1937. It is the newest and largest of Kraków's four mounds. This trip may take even entire day, given good weather - you may treat it more like picnic day out (do take provisions and blanket with you).

Getting Around

The tram stop that is located just in the middle of the street exactly across the road from this point goes to the main railway station. You need to board tram #52 and go to "Westerplatte" stop. (Next one is "Starowislna", then "Poczta Glowna", the third one is "Westerplatte" - and this is the place you get off)
