Trails run to La Mina waterfall and Mount Britton, then up to the high-altitude dwarf forest. In the south are ancient petroglyphs, made by the area’s indigenous Taíno people. The forest comes alive with the nightly calls of coquí tree frogs.

Commonly known as “El Faro”, it is located at Los Morrillos Peninsula perched on commanding limestone cliffs that drop 200 feet into the Caribbean Sea. Los Morrillos Lighthouse was the second lighthouse built by the Spanish in Puerto Rico, construction began in 1887 and completed 1882. The lantern room was constructed out of cast iron, copper and glass. The interior served as a home for the keeper and the family. All the walls were built with brick and mortar.

Fishing can be good at Lake Guajataca, you can catch different typies of fresh water fish, such as, Peacock Bass (Tucunare), Large Mouth Bass (Lobina), Sunfish, Perch (Chopas), Catfish (Barbudo), Tilapias (Tilapias) and Threadfin Shad (Cetin sardina de agua dulce) the last being baitfish. Lago Guajataca was built by the United States Army Corps of Engineers by building a dam across the river Río Guajataca and is owned by the Puerto Rico Electrical Authority. Many schools, businesses, and organizations, including a parador, Boy Scout Camp, and kayak excursion company are named for the area and water way as well. You can enjoy the Puerto Rican cuisine available at the lake’s surroundings.
